The ugliest character created using computer-generated imagery would have to be Jabba the Hut in 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope' (1977). This monster's ugliness is closely followed by the shark in Jaws 3-D (1983). And let's not forget those flying internal shark organs! Obviously in these earlier days of CGI, the 'bad work' very was easy to spot. In fact, it stood out like a sore toe. However, 'ugly characters' continued with films in the 1990s and the 21st century. More 'bad' work was seen with the supposedly cute but weird monkey character in Lost in Space (1998). The very bad and ugly work continued with some of the monsters in I am Legend (2007). Finally, there were those those aliens with green eyes in Indiana Jones (2008). Movie makers - if you are going to spend millions on these sorts of special effects - take the time to get it right. If you are not sure, run the work by a dummy audience. You won't regret taking the time to do some market research for what CGI is (and is not) going to pass the pub test! That's it from Dr Leanne for this week ;-) Apologies for both replying AND posting. Also very happy for these reviews to be read in full. I take time to write them reasonably well :-)

I actually do prefer picking out and highlighting my long reviews, which keeps the episode moving forward quicker rather than having Zac read the entire thing aloud. Obviously if it’s a shorter review, Zac can feel free to read it all but when it’s long, the co-hosts can find ways to pick on me if there’s something they don’t agree with 😄 Overall, a very enthusiastic discussion. I found Marty’s response on Infernal Affairs to be really genuine and was surprisingly satisfied hearing (from Zac off an article) about how it wasn't really supposed to be a “remake”. I also found it interesting that it was from an Indian journalist because it seemed like they were only asking that question before they decided to remake ‘The Departed’ for Bollywood (which they eventually did in 2010 or something). Nonetheless, thank you for discussing both films 3 years apart, I’m glad they’re on the channel’s existence now
