There is a difference between a deportee and a returning resident (lol)........Jamaica is a class conscious society and there is an element of elitism also. They don't accept newcomers easily and without suspicion. Deportees are going to face an uphill battle for societal acceptance. The country is economically depressed and folks will at least see deportees as people who had a chance to go to "farrin" and "improve" themselves and threw it away because of a character flaw (they will fill in the blanks their way). Their first reaction might be scorn instead of pity. Inspite of the difficulties, life has to go on and people have to try and make the best of their situation. Many deportees go on to live satisfactory lives. Good luck to all of them.........

Stigmatization is a hell of a thing. But it's obvious that guy didn't do any drugs or gun crime. Else he would have been deported immediately. Still he did, did a crime. 12thirty. Life is the greatest thing. Put God first. Dont judge a book by its cover though peeps.

linda brown clean, concise and accurate. Thanks miss Linda. Old people say “ wah Nuh dead Nuh dash it weh.” Character flaws develop from a lack of guidance. May it be parental guidance as a child, mentorship guidance as a young adult or self guidance as a grown person. Every person growing up and developing themselves should have a mentor. Someone who has traveled the road before, the which they intend to travel. Bless.

Keep in mind that our first national hero Marcus Garvey was deported back to Jamaica in 1927 for every deported citizen that comes back and gets involved in criminality was 9/10 a criminal before he left Jamaica. Also I can show you more deported individuals that have started companies, businesses and or have gainful employment than you can show that are criminals

I enjoyed this video but what I can never understand why do ppl not put their status as priority don't get me wrong the process can be expensive and long but it's worth it If you work in the USA you pay taxes I can't see working until I'm old and not being able to collect my social security and pension because I didn't put my status as priority and another thing I must say ppl come here and get so caught up in the materialistic things America has to offer and find themselves doing illegal things which eventually lead to a criminal record please black ppl let's keep ourselves on top of the game not playing the game and Everyone else wins but you as the player is losing.

Buju wasn’t condemning deportee. We all know that when we go foreign is for a better opportunity and life. And in some cases, to help our family.. We can convert the US dollars. Real things. But Buju is mainly talking to people who got the opportunity and fail to take advantage of it. Also, try send some money home to save . Especially if u doing illegal activities. In case anything happens, u can fall back on . Like have a back up plan. I am from Guyana 🇬🇾 and I love the song because it’s a reality. Actually this song educated ghetto youths like myself. The thing is , I hope Buju save something for himself. U see how words has power.

It is a very disturbing state of affairs... because we have no idea of our true status we accept what we are told. Jamaicans who attempt to go to the US could in theory be retuning back to their original homeland. The so called slave trade which was allegedly Africa to Jamaica was in actual fact America to Jamaica because this has not been investigated and documented we accept what we are told from people whose sole purpose was to steal other nations land and the commodities that came with that land.

Christopher You're right. He's 45, playing 25. He's cagey about how old he was when he arrived in the US because he's trying to hide his age. Whites are held to different standards than blacks. Whites are judged positively on colour, black people are not. Doesn't matter how white men dress, they are not criminalised as black men are, but most blacks cannot accept that. The more blacks that refuse to compete, the better it is for those that choose to. After being rooted in 'street style' for decades it's too uncomfortable for most to adjust to anything else.
