Bro it’s not normal to make your older daughter your new babies mom. What the duggars did wasn’t letting the older kids help with things around the house, it was making them parents. It was neglected ur both kids. Neglected the baby since you’re not Rosina g them, and neglecting ur older kid by not treating them as ur child. You shouldn’t be in charge of feeding, educating, cleaning etc for your younger kid. That’s admitting you can’t take care of your kids. They weren’t parenting those kids at all

I mean, it's not the worst out of this family but kids shouldn't be forced into parental rolls, especially if it's intentional because the parents are purposely making more kids than they can handle. Kids shouldn't be raising siblings. Babysitting, sure. Chores and occasionally helping out, of course. But that they're responsible for feeding, clothing and education?! That's insane. Let kids be goddamn kids instead of exploiting them in every way possible.

I remember the first time the church confronted them when they discovered the family was covering up his abvse of his then 4 year old youngest sibling. I won’t share her name, but around 12-13 she was in their words, harboring anger and resentment. They forced her to appeal to the the congregation and Gd in front of everyone, forgive Pest, admit her “faults,” “sins,” and apologize to her brother and parents for being angry. She was broken and in tears…just sobbing. It was horrible. They believe it’s always the woman or girls fault for stirring desires in men.

I don't even think older siblings should have to watch their younger ones unless it's rewarded somehow. It's work and should be treated as such. Household work is different, since everyone contributes.

I think you might be underestimating the extent to which these people are pawning their kids off on their siblings. This wasn't "hey when you get home fix your little brother a snack." It's this couple fucking and pumping out kids they can not take care of and forcing children into being full time. parents. It's measurably bad for people's mental health overall and it being traditional doesn't make it okay. You're more than willing to admit that some ways women have "traditionally" been treated is still bad. I would consider this no different.

The point about the partitioned hard drives on Josh's work computer is key. Covenant Eyes is a religious net nanny-type application, in this case it was setup to report to his wife any suspicious web browser activity (one assumes). Josh, however, thought he was a smart boy. Covenant Eyes is watching, but Covenant Eyes runs on Windows. What if Josh installs a Linux partition, boots that up, and looks at naughty things THERE? Outside of Windows and the Covenent Eyes! There was no reason at all for him to have that partition. Its existence is impossible to dismiss, although Josh did try to blame another employee. Didn't work.

I will say as a Christian your take on the common questions of "why would god allow this to happen" was a childish baseline answer you would give to a kid for a small problem they are facing but for more serious problem it would take a more serious discussion about the role of interjecting into free will

As a Christian and being stuck in a household who watched way too much of this crap I really think they tried to do their best but in the end were too hyper focused on the religious teachings for the family and negating problems like sexuality you might also chop it up to Josh being the oldest since the other siblings seem to have normal lives all in all he's a grown ass dude who chose to be a disgusting human being and drag his family (specifically his sisters,wife,and children) through the mud and he deserves what he got I mean most of the family have straight up disowned him at this point it's really a lesson for other modern Christian families I even worry for my sister who recently married into a hyper Christian household they deprive any family on the otherside to see them or grandkids and treat it more like a cult.
