Hi John. Loved this overview of the Bauhaus. I was especially interested in the White city in Tel Aviv., I had no idea of its existence so many thanks for bringing it to my attention. One slight criticism of your beginners guide to the Bauhaus I have Is the lack of any mention of its influence in the field of typography. László Moholy-Nagy, Herbert Bayer, and Joost Schmidt were all significant in promoting the use of san-seraph faces in their work at the Bauhaus. As I'm sure you know the influence of their work on other contemporary typographers such as Jan Tschichold was significant. Tschichold's subsequent work, including the creation of, for example, the typefaces Transit and Saskia had, and continues to have, a huge influence on fledgling typographers to this day. Given this, I do feel you might have mentioned the Bauhaus's influence in shaping the contemporary typography of the period. Having said that, the omission of typography in your Bauhaus guide was a very minor flaw in what was an otherwise exceptional piece of work. I will now be subscribing to your site and look forward to your future video's. Many thanks from one grey- haired old designer to one of a much younger vintage! @@bctld Hi John. I know I mentioned that I live in the UK but I didn't tell you that I live in Surrey, which is a county on the western outskirts of London. I am aan have been a member of the National Trust for years. This is, and again please skip this if you already know it, a charity that looks after, and opens to the public a HUGE number of historic properties throughout the entire UK. I am very lucky. to have near me a House called The Holmwood. It was built by a visionary designer in the interwar years and is a stunning example of modernist architecture. It's only open for 6 months of each year and even then only on Friday's and Saturdays. I have managed to get a ticket to visit it in a few weeks time (They're as rare as Rocking Horse Poo) so to say I am excited is a massive understatement.
