Our writing and film community is small but don't forget we have a booming music industry right now, bringing attention to Saskatchewan Arts! Also Saskatchewan is home to Yann Martel (Life of Pi), Shirley Douglas (Lolita), Julia Voth (Resident Evil character model), Gita Reddy (OITNB), Tyler Mane (Halloween II), to name a few. Also the sports community brings us attention, Saskatchewan has so many treasures in the land and the people and I am deeply excited for how all of this will tie together to bring more interest to the arts and writing community in time.

I can totally relate to this... probably every young adult can. The world is so big, and you feel so small, and you want to get away from where you came from, especially if you had a rough upbringing. You want to find something else, something better, something bigger. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with staying or returning to your hometown. Especially as we grow older, and we realize just how big the world is, the place we grew up feels a lot more special. I still dream of traveling, but my hometown will always have a place in my heart no matter where I go. Much love. 💛

❤ Beautifully spoken. Despite only a year difference, my experience being gay in our small town was so different. Not all great, but surprisingly welcoming. I really resonate with learning to love Saskatchewan not for the people, but for the land. I want to see all of it, ESPECIALLY the two largest deserts in Canada up north! But the land listens, and getting outside is the best we can do. Walk the world with open eyes and an open heart, and she'll show you what you need to see. Glad to see you're settling into your life. It's a wonderful feeling. Proud of you in all you do, as always. ❤

I can’t relate to the small town thing having grown up in London so a part of me has always romanticised the small town upbringing - thank you for sharing your perspective, it’s great to hear your view

Thank-you so much for making this. I am SK born and raised. I moved to vancouver simply because the working conditions in the facility i was hired in were better but i miss sk all of the time. I loved it when i decided to leave and i hope to return one day. I absolutely agree that the glorification of big cities and attitudes toward smaller cities/towns and those who choose to stay is rooted in classism. I have so many people scoff at me when i tell them im from SK. I laugh, and i tell them it is the most beautiful place i have ever seen. I am deeply disturbed by the anti-trans policies the Sask party is trying to implement, but i am moved by the push back and unity among our queer community and allies.
