"MY BATTERY IS LOW AND IT'S GETTING DARK" That was such a poignant message from Oppie. I felt so much sympathy towards the little battler who has survived so long in an extremely hostile environment. Although I know it's a machine, I can't help wishing that somehow a miracle will occur and it will spring back to life and let us know all is well. I wonder if the dust storm coated Oppie's solar panels, preventing re-charging? If so, finger's crossed a Martian wind will eventually blow it clear and it will carry on exploring for us. If not , Rest peacefully knowing that you've achieved more than you set out to do. WELL DONE LITTLE ROBOT,

I commented this to one of the most recent NASA videos TitanMaster 101 Hello NASA, I have a plan to save opportunity and spirit! You have the resources to build another rover, right? So why not build one that's bigger, a lot bigger. Build a cab so that it can store opportunity and spirit, and have it attach "hands" to them so that they don't move around, bring them to earth, reunite them, and build a mars replica for the siblings to move around in! I think if they had emotions it would make them both very happy! Thanks for considering or even reading this far!

If they pack a set of backup solar panels, which are normally concealed from surface, and can be activated after sandstorm passed. Meanwhile, introduce a solar panel cleaning arm function, so they can maintain, and rotate the usage of the primary and backup panels. Then I think the Rover can keep going for a longer time. But well it's already incredible, given it was initially planned for a much shorter life span
@PresumedGecko204 жыл бұрын
They need to send like, another rover called something like “chance” (synonym for the opportunity) or something, and have it attempts like a forced reboot or reset of opportunity and also have that one on a battery, so if another sandstorm comes, it'll still be alive, just in some charging station of sorts. Also, it’d have to obviously send another one over for the spirit one, heck have like a whole army of little mars rovers and build themselves a little hut to stay in during sandstorms

If we ever establish a permanent settlement on Mars, with it's own currency, Opportunity ought to get a spot as the highest value bill or so.
@johnwyman63314 жыл бұрын
Currency, and money are similar but two very different things. Currency can, and always does get manipulated by those who control the currency to enrich themselves to the detriment of the masses. This is why Nixon was forced to take the US off the gold standard. Because previously the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department went in cahoots with each other to defraud not only the American people but the whole world by issuing more dollars than there was gold to back it up. Most every country worldwide had dollars because they were easier to handle, but had value in gold right? Right?? In the early 60's France figured it out and turned in all their dollars for gold. Then other countries started doing the same. You can guess what happened after that. Real money is never currency despite what you've been taught. Real money is rare and cannot be made of something common, or printed unlike currency. If they can find a rare mineral on Mars that is durable then they can make that into real money like only precious metals are here on earth. If you're eyes haven't glazed over and your interested in knowing more, so you'll never be deceived again, check out a video called "The Secrets of Money" by Mike Maloney on KZbin.

Could you do a history of flight missions to Mars as well as the flight paths? For example, NASA has been sending rovers and satellites to Mars for a while. So have the Russians. It'd be neat to have more insight into this area

@thedonjavon-233 жыл бұрын
The problem is that they are to far away so we will need to send 2 but I say it’s worth it
@llthll3 жыл бұрын
@@NepNepYT yea maybe it Is worth it, but still it'll cost ALOT of preparation and money. Even a normal astronaut suit costs more than 10 million dollars, a rover can cost up to 2.5 Billion dollars. That's alot of money.

There seems to be missing detail in such cases: Solar panels could be self-cleaning prompted by a sensor activating the system when battery charging goes below certain limits. I have the solution!
