The common denominator with the members that left is their dissatisfaction with Matthew and management. There’s no reason why Latavia and Letoya couldn’t have their own managers. It’s clear Matthew really only had Beyoncé’s best interest at heart so someone needed to have the other girl’s best interest.

I'm sorry, but having two managers for the same act makes no sense. That way the label would be spending twice the money for a job that can be done by one person. I understand where Latavia and Letoya were coming from, but two managers for the same group is a financial stretch that obviously no corporate figure wants to pay for

What irked me is when Michelle and Farrah went onstage several times to receive awards for Writings On the Wall, when they didn't sing 1 note on it! Great piece. Beyonce was well aware she was favored. Her father is the manager, her mother is the stylist and she's singing all the lead on every damn track. I've been a Destiny's Child fan from day 1 and I was surprised to learn what a good singer and vocalist Kelly was only at the end of the group when she was singing lead or given extended parts and not just chorus. LaToya was also a good singer but I only realized this when she put out her solo work years later. Point is, all the girls, except Beyonce wasn't given the opportunity to perfect their craft. They weren't being given the opportunity to write, to sing leads or even produce. Of course Kelly got to do all that way later on their last album. Only Beyonce got the opportunity to perfect her singing, song writing and producing skills and thus helped created the superstar she became. I like Beyonce but she had a leg up on all the girls. Perhaps she was the most talented of the group but I can't say for sure since other girls didn't get the opportunities to improve and perfected herself through experience like Beyonce did.

My thing is that Beyoncé got the most because she worked the hardest. They ALL had the same access to resources, the same vocal coach(David Lee Brewer), the same dance instructor, everything. Even they said that while they were having fun, Beyoncé was working. Kelly has gone on record saying that Beyoncé would sit in the booth while the other girls recorded and would give them tips and advice.

This group was carefully curated for the sole purpose of launching Beyoncé’s career and it came at the terrible detriment of serious mistreatment of LeToya and Latavia as minors. Even as a child I saw something off with how beyonce outfits were always top tier versus the other members in both DC4 & DC3. Growing up I just never gravitated to beyonce because I detest favoritism is passive bullying. To this day I feel horrible for those girls that got mistreated.

When I was younger I really enjoyed their music but I never really liked that obvious favoritism was shown towards beyonce and yes it was obvious that it was all about launching her solo career. It's a shame because it was a GROUP not a solo artist with her backup singers. I wanted to really hear La toya and Le tavia's voices. They should have been taking turns singing lead. Look at En vogue, if you didn't KNOW Dawn was the lead, you couldn't always tell by listening to them...they ALL got the opportunity to sing lead at different times. I know I will get down-voted for this...but I have to wonder if maybe the reason LeToya and Latavia were "often" seen as "difficult" might have been because they objected to the _very obvious_ favoritism of Beyoncé by her parents? Maybe the reason they had to "lip-sync to her [Beyoncé's] vocals" was because they _weren't allowed_ to sing solos and were _stuck_ harmonizing. Maybe the reason they stayed "glued to their phones" or "asleep in their rooms" was because, again, _what else_ would there have been for them to do since they weren't ever allowed to sing?? Let's be honest; even the fans could tell that Matthew NEVER had _anyone else's_ best interests at heart _besides_ Beyoncé. He used those girls as starting vehicles to get his daughter noticed. And when LeToya and Latavia refused to be controlled and started to (rightfully) question him, he got them *DROPPED* from the label and later blackballed from the industry. No, Matthew *WASN'T* "looking out for all the girls", because if he _was,_ he would NOT have gotten them DROPPED from the label. Even after they were dropped, Matthew, Beyoncé, and Kelly continued to sling mud at the two via interviews. And yes, I believe the song _Survivor_ took shots at Latavia and LeToya. Even _Kelly_ (EVENTUALLY) saw the light once Matthew basically TANKED her first solo album. And I believe the ONLY reason _she_ stayed was because she saw how things turned out for LeToya and Latavia when they began to question the way things were. Wendy Williams called it correctly when she spoke about the other girls basically getting "leftovers".

I loved the original girl group more. I liked the harmonies more. No shade, but I wasn’t a fan of the survivor era that much. It took me to the Destiny Fulfilled era to appreciate Michelle vocals. I wish we could get a reunion with the original members.

I feel like, not only was Bey the only one singing in the group, but she also was dressed up and intentionally made to look better than the other girls. Look back at their costumes. Hers was always the best. She also was the spokesperson of the group. Every interview she was the only one talking while the girls just stayed quiet. When I was little I use to think that that was strange and found it pointless for them to even be a group

There is much wrong with this comment. Their costumes were always tailored to fit their personal style. So they always had the final say in how their costumes looked. Beyoncé was never the spokesperson of the group. First it was LaTavia and then it was Kelly. You can’t rewrite history.

They weren't even a real group. Anyone with eyes could see that it was Beyonce and the girls. Latavia and Latoya were called problematic for having a backbone and not allowing Matthew to step all over them. With her dad as manager and her mom as designer the favoritism was always there. A group should showcase the talents of every person in it. TLC was a girl group. They had their problems too but everyone had their thing that made them special/standout.

What people don’t understand is that Destiny’s Child brought back the classic way of how girl groups were structured. One lead singer, and the others were back up. Just like “The Supremes,” where Ms. Ross was the lead singer, and the others were back up. That was the structure of the group. They weren’t like groups like TLC, Xscape, SWV, En Vogue, where all of the girls were featured, they all sang leads, they all had shine. Fans knew every girl, and every girl had a fan base, but the fans loved the group as a collective. With Destiny’s Child, it was Beyoncé. That’s why the line up changes didn’t effect them at all. The fans realky did not care. Yes, we were confused, because the video came out and it was like, “Wait!!! Who are those girls??” But after the video played, it was like, “Ohkay! Whatever, Bey is still there.”

Latavia shined on The Writings on the wall album the song sweet 16 she sang lead. Kelly shined on The Survivor that whole album Kelly mostly sang lead and had the best parts. noticeably on their biggest song of that album Bootylicious. The only person who didn't get their full shine was LaToya but she got to shine with her song Torn. That is an R&B classic and went number 1 on billboard and had success overseas.

Kelly cared she just didn’t show her true emotions. She wrote a song on her album explaining how she was jealous of Beyoncé success. If you read between the lines and catch the message it wasn’t about Beyoncé at all but more of how Kelly viewed herself at that time and she had low self esteem because she was in a controlling relationship with a guy who constantly told her Beyoncé didn’t care about her or don’t love her and he was the only person that loves her. He didn’t allow Kelly to be around Beyoncé he would say things to separate them. Remember Destiny’s Child song “GIRL”? And in the video Beyoncé was expressing how she loves Kelly and adore their friendship Kelly was crying. Kelly wrote on her Instagram and said that scene was real … those was real tears. Kelly never had a issue with Matthew or Beyoncé Kelly was fighting her inner self.

I love that the original DC4 are all still cool and even Michelle is friends with LaToya. Destiny’s Child was so influential whether as a 3piece of a 4piece. I will say i believe Michelle doesn’t get the credit she deserves for literally reinventing DC. She became the queen of bridges on their songs. however way you spin it, ALL THIS was for Beyonce to go solo and enter into superstardom. Her whole family was staff and facilitating behind the scenes. There was absolute favoritism for Beyonce, she did sing and dance lead for almost all the songs. From other sources, Mathew Knowles wanted guardianship over the other girls and they weren't having it. Also, didn't LaTavia write the song, Say My Name? Part of the lawsuit was vocals being replaced with Michelle and Farah. If LaTavia and LaToya didn't speak, would we have heard Kelly and Michelle's vocals? 42:03 If there was real love, why not mediate? And then later on, why not extend a hand to help? Beyonce left everyone in the dust, including Kelly who idolized her.

I don't think people get...the only reason why Kelly really became second lead is because Matthew had guardianship. It came down to money. Matthew could not get guardianship of the other two to control the money, so they had to go! With Kelly, he could request guardianship and she'd have a chance at a better life with the Knowles. Her family situation was different and they claim her mom was struggling. She didn't necessarily have a better voice than latavia nor LaToya to sing second lead. It was about the money

Question, why did you in the end make it seem like Farrah was bitter and negative because she never experienced any success. From someone who studies sexual abuse, she looked like she was being abused sexually and emotionally and had to shut up so it doesn’t affect the group. It all doesn’t seem fair, as we’ve later seen how everyone had cut ties with Matthew. So maybe she wasn’t the problem.

Looking at this video and seeing how she was so emotional and she was expressing how much she missed them, why didnt she invite them to join her on tour when she would do a Destiny's Child reunion? Or when she performed at the Superbowl? I understand they really blew up when they became a trio, but they still had hits when it was DC4. Most importantly, LeToya and Latavia are the cofounders of the group and I think all DC fans who love to see all 5 ladies on stage. I always wonder from time to time, how it would've been if LeToya and LaTavia had gotten to at least finish that album era out, and does anyone ever wonder how the original idea for the "Say My Name" video would've looked? The original concept of the video was scrapped because Michelle and Farrah didn't have time to learn all the choreo.
