There's not a single multiplayer game that has the client calculate ballistics. Not Arma, not Red Orchestra, not Insurgency, not Tarkov and of course not GZW either.

Dont get me wrong, I find this really cool, it would be great to see a ballistics and armor system thats advanced and is actually working, after the mess that BSG put out. However we've still only seen pre alfa gameplay. They showcased the m4, but no other guns. I think more people are interested in graphics and guns, then how their ammo behaves. I am excited for this game, but they have a month to wrap up their playtest and start open beta if they wish to keep their deadline. Them only publishing pre alfa footage up to this point is a bit weird.

Ngl i very much do NOT like that compass implementation. You telling me our guy can internally and intuitively tell the difference between 120degrees and 119degrees while inside of a bunker? Bruh Just make the compass an item we have to look at, much more immersive than having a freakin Skyrim UI.. I'd be ok if our PMC could tell generic cardinal directions, like have a UI in the corner that says "SW" if we're facing southwest etc.. But being able to tell individual degrees? Nah thats too video-gamey Generally speaking for immersive games like this - the less UI you can have the better, real people dont have this accurate information internally, thats why we invented the compass in the first place - we're not birds.

@TheDevildogGamer thats very much not a solution. A UI is supposed to bridge the gap with that the characters knows/feels. IE we cant feel our player, thats why we have hit indicators etc. If we have a UI for a compass, that implies our character has that information internally - something he very much does NOT. Again we're not birds. When outdoors you can tell roughly what direction you're at, but nobody has access to that fine level of detail (especially not indoors lol) and therefore we shouldnt have a UI for it. Make it a physical compass we gotta pull out.

Totally with you. Orientation, navigation and situational awareness, especially in combat, is a vital SKILL a soldier needs to have. Magic 2D HUD bullshit completely removes this to hold the hands of those too lazy or inept to acquire such skills. Not a fan. In Tarkov, the above often decides the outcome when two parties meet. The one with better situational awareness, tactics and ability to stay cool usually wins - like it should be. If people want magic auto-skills, maybe go play some MMORPG stuff where the sky is the limit and you can live your fantasy. Not every game has to offer this, some games can be hard and only for those willing to put some elbow grease in.

I am sorry but I really don't see the point of doing this, especially because we recently had some titles come out that were literal dogshit and a whole lot of people are feeling pessimistic, because why invest your time into a game even before it comes out, when other studios didnt deliver. Its an unfortunate situation, but it is what it is and they are just shooting themselves into the foot by not releasing any new footage. Whats the reasoning behind showcasing the new things with pre alfa footage? I cant think of anything, besides the obvious, that they are falling behind on some things.
