Everyone else just showed their tricks or traps or what to do if someone plays bad ot just a specific line. You are the real deal. You know how to make high quality, well polished videos. Nifty covers/thumbnails. Helpful move list/"lecture" outlines visible throughout each video. And the recaps you do at the end, although a little fast, are very helpful. Feels like well structured mini lecture. And good audio/video quality in general, which unfortunately isn't always a given in chess lectures on KZbin! All in all very good work. Keep it up! 👌 Oh, fyi though, at 7:21 you say you can take with the queen or with the rook, whichever you fancy, but taking with the rook is actually a blunder and essentially loses the game for white (black would simply take the rook with the f pawn, escaping check, and protecting the previously hanging queen on e5).
@HangingPawns5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patrick:) I appreciate the detailed feedback. As for the blunder, I make those sometimes because I try to talk about ideas, and don't really want to calculate specific variations. I seldom use an engine and hence sometimes miss blunders like this one.

On 2:56 why didn't the knight move?

The engine shows white is going to win one of the knights anyway, for example after Ng8 Nxc5 Qxc5 Be3.

Not everything in this video is helpful. Like I think 6...Qe7 is a computer move, there's almost no chance you'll face this in a game. If Black makes the mistake of playing 5...Nxe4 then he won't play the computer's top move 6...Qe7 that is played like 1% of the time according to the lichess database. One of Black's minor piece in the center will fall no matter what so Black doesn't even bother moving the knight and prefers playing d6 to defend Bc5 while opening the diagonal for his Bc8. Let's say Black moves 9...Nd5, then 10.c3 Ne6 11.Qf3+ forking the king and the knight on d5. If the knight moves anywhere else then it doesn't control e3 and this becomes possible: Nxc5 Qxc5 and Be3 followed by c3 will win the knight on d4.
@manki44093 жыл бұрын
@@sourandbitter3062 what if 10... Nc6 because then after Qf3+ the king could go to e6 to protect the knight kinda like in fried liver lines.

@wascourge98173 жыл бұрын
There’s tactics with the knight on d4, so for instance if ne8 then after nxc5 qxc5, be3 wins back the piece due to the pin on the queen. There are of course other moves and I think you should analyze with engine.

How do you punish when they play g6 instead?

at 10:12 why would black go Rd8 as opposed to O-O-O?
@primowright54573 жыл бұрын
I thought castling was better as well, but then I checked the engine, castling is immediately losing with nxc6 forking rook and queen, ofc he could just take back the knight but black's king would be open giving white a slight advantage. The reason it's deadly is because black only option is to take back the knight, any other move would result in white being up a rook.

I don't see anything bad in taking with the knight(for black in move 5), because after white takes on e5 attacking the f7 pawn black can simply castle. I just want to know if it's also a bad idea for black to castle at that moment??!
@BlitzMaul2 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about 2:35 I thought the exact same thing. I checked with the engine (stockfish 14 depth 35) and castle leads to +3.82 for white. So the advantage is huge. Here's one concrete line that I checked which I thought were logical moves for black but leads to losing. So after castles 2.Be3 Ne6 3.Bxe6 Bxe3 4.Bxf7+ Kh8 5.Bc4 There's way more lines but I'm too lazy to post
