Between Ajax, Lyon, Schalke, Basel, they are all genuinely having a disaster, feel Basel & Schalke's has been coming for a while, but Ajax/Lyon is almost through mismanagement especially in Lyon's case in recent years. If all 4 come end of the season we're to be relegated to 2nd & in Schalke's case 3rd tier, don't think anyone could predict 4 European Powerhouses as it were in serious trouble on and off the pitch.

The reason is that he gathered around all the players from the club to find out who was the mole that revealed some bad personal informations to journalists about him, which created drama towards Lyon fans and French football fans.

@@Vizeh unfortunately for them it’s not getting better at all, the 2 options for them not to go down would be either : - They find a not so glamorous coach but is an expert from saving teams in relegation battles and can bring back chemistry in the dressing room. - Or they try with the few money they have to do some clever cheap signings in defence and midfield for January (but I highly doubt that happening). So if they don’t do, one of the 2, Icl that they will go down sadly, especially if the other teams fighting for relegation currently are getting results, like Clermont Foot did..

A little list of downfalls in the sport: - Williams F1 team (2018) - From a podium contender to the back of the field - Ajax (2022) - From semi final champions league and 18 points in group stage to 17th in the competition - Barcelona (2020) - From the best team in the world to losing 8-2 and have a bilion euro debt - Netherlands squad (2015) - From being third in world cup 2014 to not qualify for euro 2016 and losing to Iceland - Mclaren F1 team (2015) - From winning the world championship to fight for P15 and being named a gp2 engine In most of these cases, the teams recovered and find their way to the top again like Mclaren and Netherlands. That feeling of being back at the top and competing again when everyone write them down make sport the best thing in the world.

Ajax, Lyon, Basel, and Schalke 04. These names have always been dominated the European Football in 2000s and 2010s, but now they are in a relegation zone. The first 3 clubs more recently played in the European semifinals for the last 4 years. Schalke 04 could face the similar fates as Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest of being the former European winners to went down all the way to the 3rd-tier. I would also mention out that in Indonesia (our country), there were several clubs that went a downhill after enjoying a success from the past, such as Persipura (Jayapura), Sriwijaya FC (Palembang), Semen Padang, and PSMS (Medan). They are now currently in Liga 2, the 2nd-tier of the Indonesian Football below Liga 1. A long time ago, there were numerous occasions that a big club has been relegated after winning the league championships from the past, such as Persebaya Surabaya and PSIS Semarang. Recently, clubs like Arema FC and PSM Makassar now faced a big turmoil, with PSM winning the last editions of the league championship and Arema after the football disaster that killed 100+ peoples in the Kanjuruhan Stadium. The French media had even compared the October 1 nightmare in Malang with the recent incidents in Saint-Etienne, as seen on 1:42, as both involve the massive pitch invasion from the fans, with police firing a tear gas at the public.

brazilian here. Textor is close to becoming a botafogo legend, as they are 9 points clear of second place in the brazilian championship with 9 games remaining to the season. I think he got involved with botafogo just when they got promoted from the second division in 2021. Amazing job he's been doing with the club here. Think as botafogo is the brazilian Everton. Rich history, not much national success, none international, sticks around the first division (but recently botafogo had been flirting with staying in the second division for a while). They have one brazilian championship, from 1995, and have barely had any success at all after that, so its really amazing the reconstruction that's being done. With that being said, I had absolutely no idea other clubs he owns hate him, here is very much the other way around. I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped his big 5 league teams and focused on alternative leagues such as Belgium and Brazil

Botafogo is actually top of the league in Brazil. This is being very unexpected, in the first part of the season they played quality football. Now their coach went to Al-Nasr and they are starting to drop points. They have a 7 point advantage with 10 games to go.

Lyon fan here… this seasons results are not only due to selling our latest young rising players but to the last 15 years of poor management done by our legendary president Jean-Michel Aulas. The club was not focused on the football enough, but to building a sort of theme park around the stadium, and making the club a brand yadayadayada… The last bad decisions and management errors by John textor were just a push to the card castle. What is still infuriating is that even though the squad significantly weakened the lest 3 years, we’re still supposed to be playing at least the top 10, not the relegation (and I’m being generous). But every error and the climate of doubt got into the locker room and the head of the players and we’ve not been able to win any game since last season, preseason included. I’ve never seen a team play with such a lack of confidence. I was at the stadium when we lost 2-1 against Clermont, and the team was not able to achieve 3 successive passes. It’s heartbreaking. I hope that this difficult season will help the club come back stronger, especially with what happened this weekend in Marseille, look it up…

I've seen my team relegated from the top flight to the amateur leagues.(Kayseri Erciyesspor). In the end the clup went bankrupted and stopped playing. Trust me it hurts. You see where they went wrong, you see that the impact is not going to be fixed easily and all. I think it's one of the biggest disappointments. But it also could be an opportunity to start over, in this case it is worth the pain. So it depends. But it always hurts, more or less

I have been a supporter of Lyon since 2010. The club began its decline from this period. Savings were made because of the construction of the new stadium. Thanks to two 2nd places in 2015 and 2016, rather honorable results in the European Cup (2 semi final of Champions League in 2010 and 2020 and 1 semi final of Europa League in 2017), the club managed to become attractive again and was the most regular club in France remaining in the top 5 from 1999 to 2019... except that the decline had already begun. President Aulas only sold his players to finance his projects (LDLC Arena, OL Vallée, etc.). He has not surrounded himself and has delegated too much to some who know nothing about it (Vincent Ponsot, Bruno Cheyrou). That’s why Juninho left. Little by little we fell in the rankings: 7th, 4th, 8th, 7th... we brought back Lacazette and Tolisso except that it is a failure in the locker room. Then Aulas sold the club to Textor and a few months later Textor fired Aulas (he was right in my opinion but Aulas did not digest). In addition Textor made mistakes with the DNCG about Barcola and Lukeba. He said he was not going to sell them and it blocked us for the transfer window because we were limited to 25M €. In the end he sold them anyway but we couldn’t invest. The transfer window was horrible. Our team is the worst I have ever seen in Lyon... Apart from Lopes, Mata, Lovren, Tagliafico and Lacazette, we no longer have reliable players and our youngsters think they are stars, not fighting for the club but for their career. Cherki is the very example. He is suspected of having told the press that the new coach Fabio Grosso is the worst ever. We are in a real mother and it is possible that we go down this year because the performances are just catastrophic. Only the winter transfer window can save us...

What metric are you using when saying Lyon are definitely one of the Top 3 biggest clubs in France? Their 7 League titles place them 6th on the list and remember pre 2001 they were absolutely nowhere! Maybe you don't count Monaco as French? Maybe you've given up on St Etienne and Nantes? But what about Lille and Bordeaux - Both have won 6 League Titles and Bordeaux have 4 Coupe de France trophies whilst Lille have 6 Coupe de France trophies - Both clubs have every right to consider themselves at least the equals of Lyon historically.
