This almost mirrors what happened with my wolf Jack. His mate Amethyst seemed perfect, just a little shy, but then soon as growing pups arrived, she just stopped caring. Wouldn't feed the pups if she was full, would literally eat the PUPS food when she was nearly full and they were hungry. Funnily enough, Amethyst was from the geode pack lol, it's like a reverse!

Similar with mine, had a mate steal food from a starving pup while he was above 80% full and it passed away due to him doing it so often, as well as almost refusing to hunt with me altogether. Another pack I have has the best Ive ever seen, so crazy how different the personalities have gotten but also makes some sense theyre so dramatically different, like now it really matters if your mates a coward or greedy towards the pups

I think the Mate AI changed so they mirror your wakefulness. So if you’re extremely tired and can’t hardly hunt or fight, your mate will be the same. That’s probably why West couldn’t help that in that elk hunt.

I always have starvation problems when playing hellroaring mountain and lost an entire litter to it at young hunters. I feel like the volume of herds to how big the map is, is just too low to be balanced but maybe rng just has not been on my side. Love your content though! Played this game since I was a kid and always feel like a weirdo picking it back up now as an adult haha but how can I not play what I always dreamed the game would be

Follow the way the scent particals are flowing. The direction they come from. And your mate kind of just does what you do. If you attack it attacks. If you don't then it doesn't.

I feel like West is too cautious and lazy... He reminds me of my old Ironwolf Blaze's mate Vesta who literally did NOTHING ever except she picked up a puppy once and brought it back to the den but she never helped with hunting or territory or fighting rivals or anything. I picked her before I knew about personalities and the signs to look for when choosing a mate but I was with her from 2 years old to 8 years old anyways lol

I just stumbled across your vids! I don't know if you know this but with mule deer you have to just chase them. when they are on low stam they will stop the hop run and run normal but thats when you can catch them.
