I did this in a suit of T60 power armor with a jet pack. I rode the front of the ship the whole way, firing my gattling laser and blaring "FreeBird" at full volume. 10/10 best moment in fallout. Side note: ya can survive the trip by joining the crew below decks during the launch.

First off: no cheats necessary. Power armor with jet pack plus jetfuel chems is all it needs to get on board. Second: you don't die if you are under deck. Obviously you aren't able to see the flight. But at least you won't die onboard but under deck. Don't be on the top deck when the ship impacts. Once you've come to a full rest, and Captain Ironsides declares his final 'exultation' you can go back on top to talk to him again. There you'll receive an additional bonus for talking to Ironsides after the end of the quest. I'm not certain what it was, either his hat, or the broadsider cannon.

Cheats/drugs not required: tell your companion to flip the breaker switch, sprint off the rooftops towards the back of the ship, ride the rowboat up to the deck, wait until companion throws the switch/rocket sounds to start, go below deck, wait for the violent rocking to stopped, profit. I found I couldn’t go below deck if the ship started to move first.

Pretty sure you can get that some hat hidden in some concrete rubble on a shop stand by a mannequin... There's a hall in Boston which has just 1 small room. It has a small square with stand and microphone with a protectron lay on the floor in front. The mannequin is at a building next to the square Rooftop of building opposite it is a random encounter hotspot. Not sure if that helps

@@jakr430 They at least tried with FO3. For all its short comings, you can tell they tried _really_ hard to emulate the magic of the classic games. I don't remember for sure, but I don't think Emil was lead writer on anything until after FO3, which explains why there still seems to be some passion and charm, if lacking in execution. That's really what it boils down to. Emil taking over as lead writer for Bethesda signaled the downfall of Bethesda as a developer. All of the actually good writers at Bethesda have either passed away or left rhe company, leaving that hack to drag down every project he's involved in. He also didn't work on this specific quest, btw. Which is why it's actually fun and does things no other quest in the game does.

Can do this in vanilla with power armor and a jet pack. You can also survive IF you enter into the ship thru the hatch. You'll feel and hear the ship flying and the screen will shake but you will not die because you are inside the shop which is an interior cell.

I did this in god mode and I didn't die like that, the screen went black then came back to normal. I was still on the ship but the robots weren't there and it kinda broke the post quest return to the ship. For god mode I used "~ tgm", I believe there are 2 different types of god mode.

I saved and did this multiple times when the game first came out, using the jetpack. I found that there's no way to survive the impact if you stay on the ship, but you can indeed jump off at the last second and do a power armor landing and survive. Fun times.

Fools the easier way to do it is to go all the way to the back I've done it before and survived it really isn't that hard unless they patched it of course but I doubt that

You can actually do this but not from this point like that and without cheats. Basically flip the switch and drop down to the ground take off running to the boat on the back and have them pull you up. After that your get inside the ship and your stand absolutely still and you don't interact with anything inside the ship because the game with crash. Once it lands you walk out to the deck and you can interact with all like normal.

You can actually do this without cheats. All you have to do is jump over and wait until the ship starts moving forwards. Then, just as it dips down for a moment, you jump over and you can make it on board and ride it. If you are lucky, and stay near the rear, it IS possible to survive it.

I did this with a jetpack and no fall damage leg armor. I jumped just before impact, because i thought it was funny to abandon ship. Funny thing is you gotta time it just right, if you jump to late, you still die, even though you dont get hit with anything. Jump too early and you miss the ride

Alright here's how to really do it without mods. Take a companion. Make them stay or have them move far away from the switch. Then command them to inspect the switch. Now run like hell all the way to the BACK of the ship and underneath. A small boat gets lowered and then raises automatically when you jump on it. Pretty easy to do. If you go inside when it takes off, youll live.

You dont need cheats, when the ships bow dips down, you can jump on through the gap in the railing from the rooftop. Thats how i did it in my first playthrough, i felt like Jack Sparrow until i got murdered my God Howard's death barriers

You don't need cheats to board the ship. Jetpack. When it takes off, you stay at the front and gradually move back then when it crashes you jetpack off so you don't die. No cheats required.

You can actually survive the ride. Stand at the back of the ship, then as it is about to hit the skyscraper, run forward while jumping repeatedly until the ship stops. Avoid the navigator for a while because somehow it will turn hostile towards you.

there is a non cheat way. at side of building enter the crashed bus and there is an elevator that takes you to the top and just walk onto the ship. No cheat what so ever.
