That little smirk 😏 Zoro had when he realised Sanji arrived. That was because he was confident that Sanji would Handle Jyabura so he needn't worry about Usopp and now he can focus on his fight. Such a little detail, but I love it every time. Goes on to show that they acknowledge and admire each other in spite of everything.

"I'll do what you can't do and you'll do what I can't do" is a running theme for this arc. Throughout the arc all of the straw-hats came across situations that they were ill-suited. Something that made them step back and let another member of the crew handle it. Sanji can't defeat Khalifa but Nami can. Nami can't defeat Kakku but Zorro can. Usopp can't beat Jabra in combat but Sanji can. Sanji can't reach Robin from a distance on time to deliver the keys and prevent her from being lost forever... But Usopp CAN! No straw-hat is a burden, no straw-hat is useless. Every single member of the crew is *indispensable.*

Extends past the Straw Hats too. Luffy doesn't know where to go, but Chimney sees all. The Straw Hats don't have a ship, but Iceburg can tune up an old train and Kokoro can drive it. Chopper can't be stopped, except by Franky and his air cannon. You can extrapolate the theme of the arc further into "personal bonds are greater than institutional power".

It's why one of my favorite moments in the entire series is in Arlong Park. Where Luffy is going after Arlong with a sword in each hand, and Arlong questions if Luffy can fight with swords too. To which Luffy responds with a resolute "No" and proceeds to go down the list of each straw hat at the time, listing something they are good at that he can't do, and that is why he needs his crew. He's not a swordsman, he can't cook, can't navigate, and he's a terrible liar. But what he can do is kick Arlong's ass.

What’s really terrifying about Diable Jambe back when Enies Lobby was recent is that we have never seen an attack that imbeds itself so deeply into the enemy. The strength of the fiery kick crushes through iron body, and then the extreme heat forces itself through the skin and into the flesh and bones, burning them from the inside out. It’s basically like having your innards be cooked alive in a fight, which is PERFECT as a Sanji ability when you think about it. He’s all about cooking.

I love the line sanji had to usopp about doing things somebody else can't do. He said you leave getting this key to me since I'm stronger. You go and get Robin. Thats part of being a team/crew. Each person has strengths and weaknesses that other people on the crew can cover. So you do what I can't do and I'll do what you can't do. It's kinda like in JJK when Yuji and Nobara were going against those 2 brothers. Yuji weakened the one brother and then switched with Nobara so she could finish the one off while Yuji took care of the other one. Some people see relying on others as a weakness but that's far from true. The ability to rely on others makes you stronger not weaker

About Spandam, it's hard to be sure exactly why he's so awful to Robin in particular but at least part of it has to be related to an inferiority complex due to the empty ambition he has (for the sake of power only and no worthy goal). We often see how it leads him to power trip or inflate his ego whenever he thinks he can get away with it. I would guess his father (who was at Ohara) put a lot of pressure on him from a young age to rise up in power and be ambitious and he doesn't even know why or what purpose it could serve for him to do that, other than his own desires.

Sanji is the emotionally intelligent king of the crew 😂 yeah he's that womanizer archetype in anime like master roshi, but outside of that he's always understood everyone feelings their core. even back in water 7 when robin appeared before him and chopper he knew she was lying and spent the entire time off screen tracking and anticipating where he needed to be for the crew.

It actually bothers me so much that the Crunchyroll translation goes with "A Hunter" when every other translation says " *The* Hunter". Which makes me think the translator completely missed the reference. The viewer *might* figure out the meaning but that one swapped word makes it way less obvious. For those who don't know why I'd take issue with the distinction. Sanji making connections to fairy tails is one of his character traits, he is not saying he is any old hunter. He is *The* Hunter as in the one who rescued Robin Hood and slayed the Big Bad Wolf. (Character is changed for a woodsman in some versions so another reason people might miss the reference that's unavoidable.) That is not only a really badass thing to say to a wolf zoan but it also reinforces one of Sanji's character traits so that slight mistranslation really sucks.

Because of KZbin I'm 20 minutes late. Sanji is so beautiful, so well written, as a character that Oda had to shoot himself in the foot and make him annoying at times. Luckily, Sanji wasn't enough so he created Robin, Luffy and Nami. I love the way the fights in Ennies Lobby unfold, where the characters keep switching places in order to have more favorable match-ups and it further reinforces Sanji's concept that everyone can do their part depending on their abilities. All this takes place after an arc, Water7, where Usopp ended up leaving the group moved by a huge sense of inadequacy after being beaten and robbed. Ps. Jabura is Robin's WHAT? Best backstory in One Piece!

Wolfy here has been referencing to himself again and again as something like "the big bad wolf" from fairy tales so Sanji introduce himself as the hunter of that typically appears in saidfairy tales (like in the red riding hood). He is basically saying I'm here to take you down just like in the stories. By the way speaking about the big bad wolf, most of his attack name and dialogue are filled with pun with the Japanese word for wolf being used so that it sounds as something different. This is of course mostly lost in translation but for instance at 15:44 according to the kanji he says something like "Area network of the hunt(ing) wolf" but since wolf is said as "Rou" and hunt as "Karu" it sounds exactly how "Local area network" is pronounced in Japanese.

Depends on the viewer. I think Sanji is absolutely hilarious 99% of the time. The voice, the look, it's so funny to me when he goes into his melorine mood, it's classic anime absurdity. Even 1000 episodes later it still makes me laugh. I simply love him to death, all of him. The cool and tough side as well as his kind, funny, clever, passionate and pervy side. Such an interesting, diverse character.
