Mike has always sounded perfect. What he does is an aesthetic and a platform for his artistry and less so about metalcore anymore, they're not the same band. It's about hardcore beauty and poetry and real life, they don't generate as a band that wants to get heavier and heavier and more brutal, that would contradict what they've always been about. Sure, they were on a curve at the beginning of their career that lent itself to that more so but they've always been smart, always challenge everything and want to be part of an organic and beautiful essence. If you've seen performances like this live, you were moving. Screw music videos and pop metal and what you think you know about "screaming" that's not what vocals are really about in their whole essence, they're about feelings. This band is amazing. He's a huge Converge fan, go listen to a live video by them and you'll see why Mike does what he does, because Jacob (their frontman) knows whats up. If you don't understand what I mean, that's cool too, but don't feel sorry for Mike, he is very very talented and a lover of music

Honestly, this band grew to the success they have now due to the Myspace era and that scene though lol. I remember their first shows around the Cincinnati/Dayton area and 5 months later I was hearing about them all over the world. Myspace definitely gave them the exposure and "made" them.

Think about this, they have been releasing albums circa 09 each and every year and they have been on a non-stop 3 year tour since 2011 until today because of warped tour. So you still think that he will be able to scream like it's 2009/2011? You got to give it to him for still performing and still owning the show even though his voice is strained already :)

He's giving it his best shot. He obviously has to construct his songs bit by bit in the studio. But on the back to the roots tour he was on top of his game, they should do another one of those tours.

Each and every vocalists have different styles of screaming so yeah (you got my point right) No, there wont be any difference if they do those tours again. Why? Because all Mike needs now is REST. He should take a break and maybe rest for half a year? or a year? To have that old mike with the monstrous lows and powerful mids that we know. I think that he was in his prime during the WRAABB and Zombie records. He needs to rest his vocals man

Mike needs to spend more of his energy focusing on screaming and less on running around. Once you get good at screaming consistently, THEN work on stage performance. But right now he just seems to out of breath to scream more than a few syllables at a time.
