It's interesting to see this recent development because the idea of a sequel was quickly conceived following the success of the film back in 2006; Aline Brosh McKenna wrote a treatment (and later a script). But its content ultimately failed to provide something new or interesting. Prior to learning what this new film was about, I was fairly surprised -- it's hard to imagine how you could possibly return to that storyline with the same results. That said, given how it's supposed to be more centered on the narrative of Miranda having to navigate the restructuring of the publishing industry, it sounds more promising to me. And even though it would also be cool to see Anne Hathaway return, you'd essentially have to undo some of the implications of the first film as it relates to her character -- nobody wants to see a sequel just for the sake of doing it.

Why so many negativity? I think is a great idea to have sequel of this comedy movie. This is the highest grossing film for Meryl, sure she will be offer the biggest payroll she ever receive in the sequel. she got enough awards in her bag, let the lady enjoy some cash fall. also Meryl have a say on her character anyway, so I don't think it will suck, It might not live up to the original, but will not be anywhere near bad either
