Day one after seeing the picture: no sleep paralysis yet, soon bedtime tho so we’ll see Day two: showed it to my brother, he wants to prove it fake and that I’m pathetic Day 3: still nothing, haven’t asked my brother yet but he seems fine, so probably nothing too Day 4: just woke up and still nothing so I think I’ll be good. I didn’t expect people to want more updates but I guess I’ll do it. I will update every 2 days or every time something worth mentioning happens :) Day 5: Nope. Still nothing. Probably fine then. Day 7 (I think): Nothing. And yes I’m a Christian, no I don’t think anything is gonna happen. Day 10: well, still nothing has happened, but I have school now (ugh) so yeah. Less KZbin, more ‘actual work’. Day uhhh 17? : nope. Nothing. And I’m not dead. Off topic update: I have a temperature and cough. I know probably nobody cares but I have no friends to tell so... yeah. That. Day... 58?: I’m good now. Day 232: I have to say, these replies are very amusing. I’m still alive and haven’t experienced any sleep paralysis at all. Also, it was a sinus inflammation, not Covid so we good. Thanks for making this past 7 months better tho! It’s always funny to see how people reply to sh** like this Day whatever: holy shit, I can’t believe it’s been a year. Yep, still no sleep paralysis whatsoever! :) So i did not expect people to still find this comment after so long, and i can confirm ive still never once had sleep paralysis Who frickin knows what day it is but im kinda glad people have stuck around so long ! Nice to see yall are still here. Its been a ride, and im glad to have shared it with you guys OOOkayyy four years on and y'all are still finding this damn comment somehow- 😭So we never experienced any sleep paralysis even though our world is ✨upside down✨ now. But we're pretty sure it's nothing to do with the video. Probably. PS: if you wanna be precise, this is now day 1,506 😎

I think what is so disturbing about Blanche's story is the mom "killed her off" to the public which meant that she never intended to let Blanche out of the room even if she recanted. I wonder how much time passed from the mom first locking Blanche in the room to when the mom announced her false death. Another thought as to why the mom was committed to the plan was after some time, if Blanche were let out, she could go to the police and accuse her mom of holding her hostage. Such a sad story!

This story is actually false as told by mr ballen and many others She was actually locked up due to mental issues and other rebellious acts such as roaming the estate naked Due to the high society nature of the family the mother locked her away and had her treated by a doctor however that doctor would eventually pass away and then on had her mental issues tended to by maids of very little knowledge of how to care for her. This malpractice continued until finally one of the maids decided to report her condition to the police and then the rest of the story ensues In fact the picture he used was of an unknown woman taken in 1914 a year after blanches death.

Mr. Ballen...I respect and appreciate the work you do to publish your stories on KZbin. I am a recent subscriber and watch several of your videos every day. With that said, I do have one issue with the Blanche Monnier story you told. At the very beginning of the story, you stated the Monnier family lived in Paris and had Blanche imprisoned in the attic. They did have a residence in Paris in which they spent time, but their main residence was in Poitiers, France which is about 340 km (211 miles) from Paris. Blanche did become somewhat famous and was referred to as la Séquestrée de Poitiers (the sequestered of Poitiers). Thanks again for your awesome content :).

One thing you didn't include in the Andes story is that on one of their failed hikes to find help they came across the other part of the plane. There was a bunch of food and supplies in there that helped them. The story was made into a movie called Alive. And there are also several great books about it written by the survivors as well as some long KZbin documentaries. I definitely recommend checking out the full story for people watching this.

I saw the movie “Alive” years ago when it came out. I was thinking about how they found the other part of the plane too, where they found a bit more food that helped them stay alive. I think the two guys who went over the mountain trying to find Chile actually took some of the newly found food rations with them and was one of the main reasons why they decided to finally go. Mr. Ballen’s story was really great though! If he took the time to put ALL of the known information into each story, he wouldn’t be able to make shorter story formats for us to listen to. ♥️😁

I remember when the plane crash happened and the uproar that ensued when the cannibalism was made public. It was horrible what the survivors had to endure to survive, but even more so that they were so harshly judged. None of us know what we would do when faced with such a situation. Two stories you should do. Garavito. Colombia's most notorious serial killer. The other is about an old prison in Colombia that was an a super gnarly island, like Colombia's alcatraz, but the prison didn't have beds or anything, it was just like a little city where prisoners had to fend for themselves. The island had a ton of shark activity and strong currents in addition to something like being 28 kilometers off land, nobody was escaping, even if you managed to get out of the prison and onto the island it is covered in super venomous vipers that with one bite guarantees your death without urgent medical care, something prisoners trying to escape were not going to get. Well, Colombia's less notorious but most brutal serial killer, Daniel Camargo Barbosa, managed to escape, build a raft, get to mainland and go to Ecuador where he killed another between another 70-130 girls before being apprehended again. Super gnarly story. The island is called Gorgona.

The stories were heartbreaking. It’s hard to believe a mother would do that to her own daughter and hen her brother was complicit is horrifying. Poor thing could count on anyone. As for the plane crash, I like to believe that I could do whatever is necessary to survive but I suppose you don’t know until you are in that situation. For the first story, if they would have just left that woman alone, her persecutors probably would have lived but that’s one of the issues with organized religion, radical people feel that it’s totally ok to hurt someone in the name of their god. More people have been killed in the name of someone’s god then ever should be. I can respect your religion and your right to practice it, however there is no grace or respect for those that feel that they have the right to impose their beliefs on others or worse yet, hurt someone based on their beliefs not matching your own. Food for thought.

Amen to that. People forget that the ugly part of religion is its members in most cases. Most religious teachings urge you to do good and be kind to people, yet the human aspect of religion will never allow it to be perfect. Religion is a good thing, teaching moral fortitude and providing a good foundation for healthy communities, but there are always extremists that push things over the top. Religion, education, healthcare, politics, sporting clubs, media, neighborhoods, and even our families all have people who go to extremes for one reason or another. Whether it is justified or not. People are the problem, but the best part about it is that people can change. With good examples and support, any of us can become a better person tomorrow than we were today. That is what religion can help us see. I am not religious, but that is due to its members, not its doctrine. Great comment man, it was fun to read. Thank you for sharing, God bless.

Organized religion does not believe in hurting someone, just aholes hurt another for selfish reasons. Fear is making all the fools to riot and hurt people for wrong reasons.
@breshannondevereaux77254 жыл бұрын
So very true. It's people caused me to make some drastic decisions regarding my faith. I came to the conclusion that it wasn't necessary to worship in a designated space, surrounded by those people. We are taught that He is EVERYWHERE, right? IMHO, that meant I could build my relationship with Him WHEREVER I wanted to. I found this much more enjoyable! The absence of religious people from my life has been, for me, a good thing! Not all religious people are bad, manipulative or hypocrites. But the ones I KNEW certainly were and they caused me to stumble. When a religious person has an agenda, they manipulate scripture to support that agenda. It makes you question your relationship with Him. That little bit of doubt gets the Devil's foot in the door! So I avoid the people and don't visit the man made structures. I find Him in beautiful places He created ( rivers, lakes, beaches, mountains) and appreciate it while praying and growing closer. I no longer dread seeking him out, because I don't have to dodge His people! He'll deal with them, in His time!
