Hey ghouls and ghosts, its your good buddy Uncle Ben with a super SPOOKTACULAR Ghost breakdown!!! Y'all know Ghost and the halloween season are 2 of my favorite things, so how about we mash em up and dig deep into Cirice (Meliora)?!?! In this video, i'm gonna take you on a riff by riff, lick by lick journey through EVERY guitar part in this song, from the intro all the way to that awesome guitar solo! You'll be getting lessons along the way about how Ghost makes themselves sound so evil, including explanations of their harmonies, intervallic choices, phrasing, and more! We're also gonna get deep into the solo and how i transcribed it, which features a couple little mysteries of its own!
Playing my Dunable Cyclops in D standard tuning, into a Boss Super Overdrive SD-1, into the Amplified Nation Ampliphonix and Gain head through my Suhr RL/IR box, which has a killer Ownhammer Marshall IR loaded into it! Delay and reverb courtesy of Logic plugins.
What Ghost sound should we get a lesson on next? Let me know in the comments!

10:30 You just compressed the entire Ghost spirit (no pun intended) in two sentences. That sus4 resolution. It sounds bright, but at the same time epic and... diabolic. While thrash and black metal show the dark side of Satan by accenting on the diminished fourth (dat devil's triton, ya know), Ghost sort of goes the opposite. Tobias shows Satan's seductive, sexy side, his disguise as the good boi, bringer of light and stuff. Triton is Behemoth, sus4 is Lucifer. Damn I'm a f***ing poet here.

Man, I love your vids, Uncle Ben! I work as a composer now, but I was a guitarist back in the days, and I still love rock/metal. Ghost is one of my favs, because it's huge conceptual imagery that surrounds it (and I also have a sweet spot for Satan. oh well...). I would like to see you analyse both 'Square Hammer' and 'Witch Image', because there is one interesting similarity between the two songs, which I find pretty interesting in a way, that supposably Tobias wrote the two songs approximately in the same period (even though they came out on two different releases).

I've been playing guitar for like 2.5 months now and the main riff is one of the first riffs I've tried to play, I'm trying to learn the rest of the riffs now, but in tabs and videos I've found always sounded kinda off. This is really cool, thanks again. Also Cirice is one of the best songs I've ever listens to ever in my opinion, and your analaysis just cemented this further haha. Edit: Yes please I'd love to see a video on the keyboard solo, I don't think I've ever seen it played "properly" not even on videos of them live, it always sounds off.

Would love a tab of the keyboard part. Henrik Palm (Ghost bass player from 2015-2016) actually recorded a lot of guitar on Meliora. Tobias was upset because Henrik messed up a part that made it onto the final record and in the 2017 lawsuit Henrik wanted writing credit for his flub. I wonder if it was that one note in the solo? Either way, you don’t get credit for messing up.
