I absolutely agree. That's why Mo'nique puts money into independent productions. Viola Davis, Denzel, and several others have production companies, as well. Taraji, too, has her side hustle(s) among them a production company. That's the way of life of an ethical, moral entertainer/worker. There has been so much scandal that has been happening in institutional churches. In the past there is a tendency to sweep scandals like this under the rug. Finally, the heaping piles of sin seen amongst those who profess to be Christians is being exposed. There is so much ignorance happening among those who profess to believe in Jesus. Those people are not even able to examine themselves to see whether they are in the faith and test themselves (2nd Corinthians 13: 5). It's time for people to wake up!
@nesetans10 ай бұрын
There is no scandal at all. You drama queens are such bad people that you don't understand why Diddy still has to lie for years. Not just Diddy, there are many men like Diddy who lie, who have to live a lie and drag others along with them. The reason for this is you, as a hypocritical society. But you will NEVER question yourself on this issue, and you will continue to create new victims. I was never angry at Diddy. He did whatever the society he lived in required. BUT..I just feel sorry for him because he couldn't live his life the way he wanted. Even 40 years ago I'm sure people were better off than this. You are the worst possible people.

Empire could've been great but Lee Daniel messed it up. No story line but gays jumping in and out of bed. The actors and actresses were beyond great but this man killed his own show. I thought the show was on the rise but when you focus to much on sex scenes you kill the premise of people wondering and daydreaming. I dont have a problem with gays because all the people on Empire were gifted. The two main character, oh my, they were fantastic. If Lee Daniel could do a remake, he should incorporate a better storyline with entertaining a feast for the audience. Because some of the storyline were great.

2nd season episode 1, I was incensed w/ having Taraji in gorilla suit for no apparent reason other than our stereotypes. Their last name was Lyons to boot, but you put Cookie in a gorilla suit with no true meaning behind it? The writing just went further down from there IMO. I was ticked Lee D. let any writer get away with putting it on paper and even worse he put it on film??? The dialogue wasn't the best but hip for young viewers (networks fav viewers) the acting was solid, but storrylines were getting worse each season. 1st Season avg 17M viewers an episode unheard of viewer numbers for a TV show since the '90's. Their last season avg viewers 4M. The drop was huge despite it'd b een on 5 yrs.

I feel like Taraji is in a tricky place. She’s coming off of a hot streak in television and movies and now in the middle of a press tour for Color Purple she expresses her dissatisfaction with monies received from the industry. It’s a very slippery slope to head out on because she may be seen as a “trouble maker” and end up in the “hands off” or blacklisted category because of her free speech. The industry just doesn’t seem kind to African American woman and this may end up being an issue for her.

For anyone saying Actors shouldn’t cry because they are making more money than the rest of us. 1. A lot of them aren’t. 2. What would we do for entertainment if they all quit. 3. Telling them to go do something else, when they have trained their whole life to do this, is insensitive. 4. The music industry is the same way. So no television, movies, or music, got it.
@yubantwo208610 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your reply! I found that comment so utterly ignorant that I couldn't reply. I worked 40 plus years as a self employed opera/concert singer, coach and instructor. As a person of color, I got it from my own people and the industry suggesting that I was straying from the lane dug out & deemed acceptable for POCs. In a different comment section, someone articulated that being an artist is fun and not work and therefore not worthy of expressing hardships yielding no sympathy. It reminded me of wealthy Congress people who describe Social Security that we pay into our entire working lives, as an "entitlement." That art, music, acting looks like fun or easy is precisely what our skill, craft and technique, which has been honed for years at great expense allows us to convey. But to your point of what life would be like without art and entertainment, it is inconceivable because thank God, until now we have never known what that would be like. The vast majority of artists live on the edge in service to the creative calling. Award shows, applause even fame are for the majority fleeting moments. Grueling, unbelievably hard work for years and years before pay offs is grist for our mills.
@carbar393610 ай бұрын
True, many arent working that are black/white, but a chosen not forced profession they chose to do. However, she's not in the barely get work catagory either. There'll never be equal pay in H'wood system because its based on what you generate at the box office/tv ratings - point blank period! Why Will, Denz, Eddie etc get the millions per pic? They get the butts in seats/eyeballs on the TV. Whining actors crying about pay is fooling the public, because they know we think the pay is set like everyday work pay & its not! Is people going to see this movie for Taraji alone, Fantasia, alone, etc? No IMO. Movie-goers that are going to see this film, because its a classic book, classic film, well-known story and likeable cast. In this instance whatever it makes at the B.O. none of the actors can claim movie-goers came to see them solely like a Eddie, Denzel, etc can in their movies.

Based on the games Paramount was and is playing. Yes. The price changed when 2 black men wanted to buy it. The price then goes down when a white man who is an associate of Paramount wants to buy. So there in lies the set up for a "discrimination" lawsuit. They changed the price to fit who they wanted to buy it. They could have kept it "in house," if that was their intention, then it would be different.

Hugs to you Patty ❤ I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and you’re right allegedly these people better be careful and we have to lead by example and if what is being said, God is exposing the wolves in sheep’s clothing. What we reap is what we sow and where there is darkness, the light prevails.

I used to watch Byron Allens late night star interviews, kinda like utube/ tmz mix. It puts gladness in my heart to see how far he's gone.

I agree about Taraji. She deserved better. Her folks have to get paid or it makes her look bad. Can you imagine making 10 million and maybe seeing 1 million of it. You have to keep her body in shape and show up for the PR events.

I know you all will not believe me but this is happening to white actors too. These actors cannot command dollars that the Denzel Washington, Will Smith, and Tom Cruise demand. They get pay on scale regardless of their talent.

These actors and actresses. When they believe they have all the money and power. They feel their untouchable. Especially when they have gotten away with so much for a very long time. Well all the skeletons are coming out the closet. And the bones are talking. As you said Ms. Patty this is just the beginning.
