In this video, horsemaster and trainer Hasan shows you the horse playful bites that are different from attack or aggression bites. Hasan also explains that some of your actions (intentional or non-intentional) may cause your horse to bite (playful bites).
Horsemaster and trainer Hasan shows you that its all got to do with how you approach your horse. He demonstrates the different ways of approaching your horse and the different reaction you get from your horse depending on each approach.
First, horsemaster and trainer Hasan demonstrates the approach of extending his hand to the horse's mouth. This action, encourages the horse to try to discover what's in your hand. This leads to the horse's playful bites. Trainer Hasan does not recommend this approach. Since it encourages the horse to bite. But in the event you approached the horse with an extended arm/hand, try to distract the horse by petting or rubbing horse's head above his mouth. The petting or rubbing should distract the horse from biting. Also, avoid any sudden movement of your arms that may spook or frighten the horse.
Second, horsemaster and trainer Hasan demonstrates how your body language signals to the horse your intentions. When you ready to do work on the horse, always approach the horse with steadfast footing to let the horse know that its about to be involved in a work session. The demeanor of the horse will change from playful exploration mode to ready for work mode.
Finally, horsemaster and trainer Hasan does not recommend approaching "teenage" male horses with play body language. He recommend to always approach teenage male horses with steadfast footing because they're more pushy or unabashed than female teenage horses.
