The oversteer segment with the the slow mo car in the background was a really cool shot, well done. The normal speed play through right at the start of the segment makes it seem like they were part of the same shot, caught me off guard when it came back through in slow motion glory.

Can't remember who said it, but I found one way to easily describe the difference in the two. "Oversteer is when the passenger gets scared. Understeer is when the driver gets scared."
@Septagrim2 жыл бұрын
this doesnt go for track driving but more for street driving, but if you're ever understeering one thing you can do is pull ur handbreak a little (at lower speeds) to provide some oversteer to correct your car's nose and point you where you want to go.
@booyakashaWagwan5 ай бұрын
No, don't do this, you're going to upset the car. The instructors are correct. Put a little pressure on the brake pedal to transfer the weight to the front wheels. What you are mentioning might work in slow corners on loose, low grip surface, but not on asphalt.

Great video! I had the two terms completely mixed up in my head (thought oversteer was understeer) for years. My AWD car (Audi A6) understeers a bit at higher speeds and I'm guessing it's a safety reason (easier to control).
@mehmetcamc98883 жыл бұрын
İt can be safety for you because your car is awd.İn fwd it is very horrible.Especially if you are on the narrow way.

Great video and extremely informative. Several months ago I was in a situation driving my z. Throttling up slightly in a slide kept me out of the woods. Was I going too fast?.....yes I was but what a rush. If I do it again I would prefer it be on a track with no trees around.

Dude I was in my E46 seen a guy on a motorcycle doing burnouts, I'm turning left into a very narrow street where he is but in the opposite lane, so I decided I'm going to join in on all the fun I go to drift the corner from a complete stop manage to drift the corner go in between the motorcycle to my left and a parked car to my right mean while my dad is looking at me scared shitless cause he thought I was going to crash I straightened out and left happy... Now yesterday I did the same thing but oversteered and almost went flying into a parked car on the curb to the right, I took my foot off the gas which I know now is stupid, cause then my whole car swung to the right into the oncoming lane of traffic almost hitting another BMW driving then finally corrected myself... I felt so good damn stupid and now I think back of how lucky I was I didn't lose control n hit that motorcycle the last time I pulled that crap... I can only say at least I didn't hurt anyone or hit any vehicles, and I learned my lesson and won't pull these stupid stunts on the streets till I'm at least way more experienced... I don't really like spinning my tires and drifting all the time but I do get that urge when I'm in a big empty lot to do sum sick ass pulls n burnouts I love cars and I love the sound of the engine, the tires smokin, and just the driving physics alone but after that happened I felt like I didn't even deserve my car, my car is at least 22 years old and still beautiful as hell and I would of smashed my front end cause my stupidity I definitely learned how easy it is to lose control

A stock car would flipped and crash if you try oversteering. We need a video on how to tune a ride suitable for oversteering.
@_--____--______--___ Жыл бұрын
Understeer is likely more common because most street legal cars are FWD. Sliding out on a roundabout in the wet thanks to understeer can be a little scary the first couple of times, but it's fun once you know how to correct it. I'd recommend NOT applying the brakes during understeer because you've got no traction anyway and they won't do much. Just take your foot off the throttle and let the engine do the braking if you're at a low enough speed. I have actually almost span out when understeering too because for whatever reason, my front end decided to keep going and my rear tyres still had traction. I've even accidentally oversteered a Nissan Cabstar when leaving the yard at an old job and heading onto a main road. I didn't even realise that it was RWD at the time and the ground was slightly wet. Luckily for me it was only a small slide and needed hardly any correction.
@sunexia4252 Жыл бұрын
Maybe someone explain why you don’t gently tap the brake on the RWD like the FWD under steer does?

oversteer is a bitch... people often confuse the front wheels loosing traction as oversteer.. when they turn and go straight... in technically can be but in my mind it IS NOT
@rs3tuber4253 жыл бұрын
A modest driver with little expertise can correct an understeer, most of the times just left of the gas and you are back as if you were on rails. On the oversteer most people will do a 180 with total loss of control. To me I rather encounter understeer any day, as I said, you can correct it immediately just by letting off the gas and the car wouldn't spin out of control which is what happens with most RWD cars. I am all for AWD and RWD cars. The worst car I ever owned was the C6 Z06 back in 08. Since then never ever again a RWD. If you don't believe me, watch your average guy driving on the hundreds of videos on KZbin from any cars and coffee or any other car meets in Europe, 95% of the cars crashing are RWD , you will rarely see a FWD car crashing because you can save it instantly!!! Also, these videos that you are posting look OK on professional track with wide lanes, in real life is not like that, the RWD cars leave you no margin for error on narrower real roads not on wide racetracks. I would agree with you that the FWD does make a wider turn but only if you let it do it, as I said (now 3 times) all you have to do is lift the gas pedal for a fraction of a second and you are back in the rails. The other day as a matter of fact, it rained a little bit here in Tucson. I was walking on an overpass pedestrian bridge and I saw two pick up trucks(RWD off course) turning 90 degrees and they both loss control at not even 20-25 MPH. That would have never happened if you had a FWD car.
@thatcandont2 жыл бұрын
You can’t teach this stuff… what do you want to do with the car? Ok, do it. Crash, repeat.
