Hi Sam, I've been one of your followers for a while. As a part of participating with you in this discussion, where others get ideas or further understanding. My own perception of accords I found it directional, which means to reflect on subjective odour, while the base is like salt and pepper, its essential for every perfume you make (except for an entirely new inspiration) so every perfumer has his own salt and pepper recipie on their own way of all formulas made by.

Interesting - I think the latter is what I would call a “Perfume base” I.e. a basic scaffold for a perfume which can be customised.

Hey Sam. Great to see your channel growing so quickly. I still remember watching your videos when you had no subscribers! I kind of fell out of making perfumes after I was making a mess at home spilling stuff. I will definitely get back to it at some point soon

Thanks Juel, really appreciate you sticking around all this time. And yes, definitely get back into it and let me know how you get on :)

Great video, Sam. Where did you find that bottle for the mango perfume? It's beautiful.

Thankyou for this I was wondering do you have any idea how they make the "amber resin perfume" ? Have tried winging it with beeswax and honey but did not end great
@sammacer2 жыл бұрын
Interesting… normally amber in perfumery consists of Labdanum and vanillin

What would be the best resource for learning to make a certain accord. Say if I wanted to know how to make a fracensence or oud accord. What would be the best way of going about it.
@sammacer2 жыл бұрын
For me the best resource is the basenotes forums if you do a search. For those two however an accord is not needed since naturals or bases should suffice to get the whole smell in one material.

How to know odour strength and evaporation rate of an accord that we created?

…by smelling it 😂

This was a helpful description, but another thing that can be confusing is your term “perfume base”. I like that technique a lot, but it would have been nice for you to include that in this topic and kind of lay out the Venn diagram of where these terms overlap. Just a thought.

Accord: a combination of two or more raw materials that combine to provide a smell Bases: reproducible formulas based upon to an accord Perfume: the product of bases and accords Correct? DT

I might make an accord and it's a one time deal. But if I write the formula and bottle it, I can reproduce it as a base. Got it

Think of an accord as the harmony, a base as a formula
