Born in Hayward, California, a suburb of San Francisco, Fr. Vincent Serpa, attended Bishop O’Dowd High School and the University of San Francisco, and entered the Dominican Novitiate for the U.S. western province of the Dominican Order. Ordained in 1968, he spent three years doing radio work in San Francisco while still in school. Since then he has served in Dominican parishes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland, Oregon.
From 1992 to 2000 he served as novice master in Oakland, California. In September of that year he joined the staff at Catholic Answers as chaplain and staff apologist. He particularly enjoys answering questions on the "Ask an Apologist" forum and producing his daily “Catholic Answers Minute.”

The knights of Columbus Are a male fraternity loyal to the Catholic Church. Good nights of Malta have a long history, having served alongside with a night templars during the crusades.Their goals were to protect Pilgrim’s going to the Holy land, feed the poor and take care of the sick. The Knights accept both men and women in their fraternity, all loyal to the Catholic Church. They exist today since the middle ages, the night Templars were dissolved whereas the Knights of Malta still exist today. Think of them like I think of them asThe Red Cross of their day, with doctors , monks, nurses, and laymen who keep doing the same thing today. They can get involved in conflicts and battlefield as hospitalers, feed the poor and care for the sick.

Great Q&A! I've been finding some overtly anti-Catholic videos online from Masonic chapters. We need to do more to educate the public about why that propaganda is wrong and why the Church is essential to our lives.

Was not the Lord Jesus Christ the Salvation and the light of the world in his time? And when He told Zacchaeus that Salvation had entered into his house, was he talking about a holy book?

Order of St John/Malta is third oldest of all religious orders. The Knights of Justice makes religious vows and are true religious, they just don’t live in community.

I've been listening to crusader chants on youtube, like Da pacem domine and salve regina. It has a lot of crusader knight imagery, however, I need to know. Is this or any crusader stuff, like sayings "Deus Vult" associated with Masons? I like the crusaders, but if they are linked with Masonic origins, i'll for sure stop.

well not exactly. masons claim a lineage to the crusade true or not. The masons did not exist during the time of the crusades

The Knights Templar were originally in the Catholic Church during the era of the crusades. Many years after the Catholic Church no longer worked with the Knights Templar, the freemasons stole the symbols/name of the Knights Templar for their own purposes, just like they've done with other formerly Catholic Knight organizations. Its as if the freemasons are trying to rewrite Catholic history in their own corrupted diabolical image. Its really irritating. We need to pray for the destruction of the freemasons (as well as the end of the communists/satanists) to happen much sooner (all evil will be destroyed during the 3 days of darkness, which I feel is the likely prophesied chastisement from the Fatima/Akita Marian Apparitions). KevZen; A Knight of Columbus or Malta.Why is Zen in your avatar, I am a devout catholic.Could the Knights of Malta be infiltrated by the Masons. The Catholic Church has long denounced membership in secret societies. Therefore, to keep its parishioners from being tempted to join Freemasonry, it founded Knights of Columbus in 1882 as it's counter to the Lodge. The Church is failing in exposing the Masons.The artwork coming out of the Vatican these days is very suspect. The masons could not destroy the church externally but they are trying desperately to destroy the church from within.

Can I say, neither parties are knights. One lives by their moral code of medieval knightly understanding, but lacking the moral code of being a medieval knight, and they deny what Christ Jesus left behind, but still has that inner drive of protection. Similar to a mercenary but for people wanting to feel temporal safety. The other does good deeds for the Catholic church, which isn't a bad thing, but nothing knightly about them, it seems their only goal is to help in the manner of a house wife, or a child who comes in from playing outside to assist his mother. A knight is more than a bunch of men getting together and talking about how they can be of benefit to their families and members. A knight is more than a person deciding he is going to do good for all people, while ignoring those who walked before them. A knight doesn't do it their own way, they are subjected and submissive to their king and land, which sometimes conflicts with one another. I am not a knight, but a king who knows how a knight ought to behave.

@@hectoraceves1494 I practice Faith in Christ Jesus, and all Lord God's household. There is only one Faith in Christ, and it is easy to tell when a fickle faith weasels in and corrupts the church of Christ congregation. However, I can see how you and many other catholics are confused, when people put the state church philosophy, before the church of Christ.

When you are born, you are a seed in the ground, your family or religion of birth constitutes the mass of ground above the seed. They are trials. And you must struggle and come out of the ground to see the light of God who sowed you so that you may be a blessing to the earth. You Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus, leave religion! Know that all seeds must be put in the ground. It is a divine law but you must not die in the ground.

To deny the presence of God in anything is put something outside of God. And that's the reality you create for yourself - a reality without God because that's what you believe in. Good Luck hating other religions.

And after pastoral school, seminaries and theological degrees, when those hypocrites, sons of the devil stand in the pulpit, they say: "O God may I decrease and you speak through me." You see? It's a confusion! If you know that you can decrease for God to speak through you, so what did you go and look for in pastoral schools?
