Oaths and Vows are both "PLEDGE of PROMISES"... But an "OATH" refers to the Promise made INDIRECTLY to God in the presence of another human or party... while A "VOW" refers to the Promise made "DIRECTLY" to God... Example of Vow: the "Marriage Vows," both Husband and Wife directly promise God... and the Husband can also make vows directly to the Wife and vice versa... if the Married Couple breaks their VOW of promises, the couple is accountable for the broken promises to God only... likewise, if the Husband breaks his VOW of promises, he is accountable to the Wife only, and vice versa... Example of OATH: the "Oath of Allegiance," a citizen made a promise in the presence of another Person or Party (Government) under God, therefore, God is only the WITNESS to the person's promise in the presence of another person or party... if the Person breaks his/her OATH of promises, the person is accountable of broken promises to another Person or Party first before to God. In other words, an OATH involved 3 Parties... while a VOW involves 2 Parties only... that is the simplest explanation I could give... Praise and Glory be to God... Amen...
