in lithuania there is a very different kind of rain, starting from fog with spraying rain and tropical rain when you get wet all over you in a few minutes. There is also summer rain, short abundant and immediately followed by hot sun and air becomes even when it is even difficult to breathe hot and humid. The autumn rain is cold and falls directly on the face reminds us that autumn has already come. the first rain after winter is accompanied by lightning and thunder (by the way, it is said in Lithuania that after 3 thunderstorms it is possible to swim in lakes, it is already suitable for swimming) in the spring it wakes up the land from winter sleep. The smell of soil and grass can be smelled, a bud burst begins. Culture: we are a small country but we have 4 ethnic regions that differ in their language, clothing and even regional dishes. also about national minorities. Karaites and Tatars live in Trakai. People from Samogitia and Šilutė region are the most different from Lithuanian regions (people are engaged in a lot of fishing). I recommend to taste, very tasty!

I guess you aren't wrong, we Lithuanians are cold people, we live in a cold country and we have a past that sends chills down the spine. However when we do warm up to you and become friends, we are the kind of friends that will ride or die with you, we are notoriously loyal if you manage to get in to the inter circle you are there for keeps those bonds are not easily broken.

Mainly why we are preserved it's because of our generational trauma. Lithuanians fought many battles for our independence and you had to look out for good friendships and bad ones. If you misplace your trust, you are pretty much dead, because back when partisan wars were happening (1944-1953) there were people who gave in their own people for their own gane. And of course either way you are killed or if you're lucky you're sent to siberia and of course ussr officers would go after partisans family too either murdering them or sending them to siberia. That were all comes from, usually when lithuanians hear different language automatically they will see you as an intruder and potential threat (ps: bcs of trauma from r*ssia). I suggest on learning lithuanian language and take part of lithuanian culture, then they will see as not a potential threat and will give them a feeling that they are appreciated and loved and they will more likely to more warmer and welcoming :)) - a fellow lithuanian.

From the US and from Lithuanian heritage, I've recently been reading about Lithuanian 20th century history. It's complicated with a lot of forces working in a lot of different directions. When I feel I have a grasp on the 20th century, I will work back. Your term "generational trauma" seems accurate to say the least. Simply incredible what this country has been through and accomplished. More people around the world should learn about Lithuania. History tends to repeat itself. I do plan to visit in the summer of 2023 and will do my best to learn a bit of the language (tough one) and will always respect the people and the culture.

@@JimM-zs8ul I'm very glad you heard about us and researched about our history! I'm glad you'll be visiting us. Ye i know that bcs my grannies suffered the terror, and what is happened in ukraine also happened to us, so we understand them and feel their pain, but some ppl don't and just sht on us for hating r*zzians, bcs according to majority of westerns ussr was a great thing so as they wear ushankas with hammer and sickle which is an oppressors sign. I argued with lot's of westerners why is it wrong to use that sign, but believe, I always get called hysterical and get over myself

@@fairy_mp3x793 Thank you so much for your reply! I try to learn 2 or 4 new words every day. Tomorow will be "As (ash to me) nekalbu Lietuviski (I don't understand Lithuanian), Ar Jus kalbate Angliskai? (do you speak English?) Vanduo (water) and Autobusas (bus) which is pretty easy for me. I feel like I'm starting to get it a little bit. As far as your other comments, I'm a bit hesitant to respond since it's a bit off topic. That said, I can't help myself so I will. I can't imagine any right-thinking westerner wearing a Ushanas with a hammer and sickle in your country. My best guess is that they are young, stupid and uneducated, and think for some reason it is "cool." They have no idea what you and your grandparents know and have experienced (my grandparents emigrated from LT to the US in 1918) they have no idea what atrocities that the Russians, Soviets, Germans and Nazis have put upon the people of eastern Europe as well as their own people. Their heads are in their cell phones. Unfortunately, it is still happening. Putin, the latest war criminal in our lives invades the innocent people of Ukraine without provocation to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his. A "special military operation." We are well aware of the atrocities in Bucha and the continued shelling by the Russian of innocent civilians in their apartments who just want to live in peace. 95% of the people in the US are behind the support and continued funding (billions) to Ukraine even though they are not NATO, we have a moral obligation to help them. I'm a little bit skeptical of Zelinski, we should have had assurances from him at the beginning that when this is all over (and hopefully it will be soon) that he will declare Ukraine to be a constitutional republic.

@@JimM-zs8ul sorry for the long answer, semister is over so I had to check my studies. And I'm glad you'll be learning it, problem is with majority of courses that they don't introduce you with lithuanian abc's bcs when people learn try to learn ,example: lithuanian. they use english abc's and sounds while talking and learning so that's why it is sometimes butchered, so for that just play lithuanians kids abc songs to hear and see which letter makes which sound( in youtube type in lietuviška abecėlė and it should give you some results) that would help in some way, and there are some mistake I don't speak lithuanian would be- Aš nekalbu lietuviškai, bcs lietuviški would be implying,it was originated/produced in Lithuania(ex: lietuviški batai(lithuanian shoes) lietuviški cepelinai(lithuanian zeppelins) lietuviški koldūnai(lithuanian dumplings) , and for do you speak english structure is without mistakes but you need to add lithuanian letters(ū,š). Ar jūs kalbate angliškai? Would be proper but it's for writing, don't take it much into a head. And for that yes they do it bcs aesthetic or just blindly believe ussr propaganda, they think it's an amazing utopia or smtg like that, while reality is other way around, but I know if I would dare to put on swastika or dress as back in a day police in usa(those white clothed fully covered ghosts) for aesthetic or express my political point of view( BIG DISCLAIMER: I am not a natzee or conservative, i'm using this as an example on double standards and calling out their bs) I know everyone would be coming for my throat and cancelling me like crazy, but ussr is fine bcs they are winners right? Who cares that majority of ussr was r*zzians destroying other countries, their culture and butchering their history, moving to their lands and colonizing them, stealing from them, committing genocides, must speak r*zzian, no that's ok. Like british empire bad, ussr good, even tho both commited the same crimes. And the fact r*zzians still come to our lands and feel entitled to them and entitled to us speaking r*zzian. And them wearing ushankas with ussr sign allows r*zzians to not take accountability for their actions and refuse to accept that they hurted nations, plus ex-ussr officers are still out there walking free while the took part in those atrocities, germans legit acknowledge what they did they learn, try to make things better and are arresting people who partook in notzee germany in some way were arrested(some part but not atleast, atleast its smtg) and ye if i would see them in ussr signs, I would beat them up

Ahh God will never be a just church thing for me. I have God everywhere I go and everyday He is in and with me. I go to church to fellowship with other people who believe in Jesus Christ and it's beautiful when that happens in the way one knows best but never limiting my relationship with Jesus to church. It's a daily relationship that I work on. What about you. Do you thinking going to church is a direct representation of your relationship with him?
