Look at all that charred wire, its a miracle the building didnt catch fire
@ShukenFlash4 ай бұрын
The pull likely caused some of the damage, particularly since the wire was old and the insulation would have likely become brittle over time. But it's also plenty likely that there was water in the old conduit and that contributed too. That wire was definitely jacked up when it came out. The insulation shouldn't have gotten messed up on the new wire, partly just because it's new insulation and not old and brittle. They also generally use a lubricant to help the wire slide through the conduit, at least if it's tight.

Perfect time to check voltage at the fused disconnect, even know it’s turned off. Also while working on that circuit pull the fuses out, just in case someone doesn’t walk by and flip breakers cause their oven or outlets not working 👍
@JoeCdaYT4 ай бұрын
I have seen something like that. Pull disconnect on the side of a federal building and the fire that had ensued inside the box had melted the insulation back to the wall. Our company sub-contracts stuff like that out. Lots of pictures and estimation of about 200 Ft of 10=2 wire to main panel. There was going to be some drywall work involved if it was done as a new pull since the old run was Romex. I know the feeling of On-call, have it this weekend and Saturday night got called out for a noise complaint at a high-end condo where big money is spent for people to be able to take over 4 Units to make one unit on the lake. 4 Floors and all. Noise was heard in multiple units in a unit stack. Boss said to find the culprit. Well I did with on call time and will let him deal with the logistics of billing that but found out there is a central booster fan for all the vents to go into and the fan itself had bearings going out. 3 Hours total in this whole mess.

Yawning isn't always a sign of fatigue. According to a brief Google, partially to confirm what I learned in grade-school science, but in the process I discovered several other benefits: * yawning causes your body to release a wetting agent into the alveoli (air sacs) in our lungs, keeping them "open" and ready to work * yawning opens up the jaw muscles, increasing blood flow to the brain * yawning causes you to breathe deeply, flushing any remaining "stagnant air" from your lungs, and offers some small cooling effect to the brain as well The More You Know 🌈🌟

In five minutes, I started to feel funny, went to security, they called an ambulance because I may have started to go into shock. In Germany we have to choose the Fuse based off the Cable we use, if we deliver 400VAC with a 5x cable, we HAVE TO take a Fuse with 3 coupled Fuses. So in the event of failure, or just for turning off, ALL Live wires have to get turned off! Based off these Arcs, i would just guess either the Fuse failed and didnt turn off (which is not possible in Germany Fuses, as they would internally fail and disconnect the circuit (all 3 Phases) or the Screwnuts were either lose or overtightened. When you screw them too much into the Wire it could help the wire to break and while it breaks/fails, it can happen that it will arc really badly, based on the load aswell, the more load, the greater the arcs

Some pedantic nitpick: It's a SwitchBOARD if it's 600V or lower (line to line or line to ground). It's SwitchGEAR above that (i.e., 3kV, 12kV, and above). The Transformer that bridges the two is technically part of both.

@TheChipmunk20084 ай бұрын
My guess would be a loose connection melted the connector or softened the insulation on A phase, which then shorted to the grounded lid for a while, heating up the fuse along with blowing bits of the faceplate all over the place, then it blew, and the unit shut down because of losing a phase (I know that last bit you already told us). I'm amazed with all the heat and plasma flying around that the other 2 phases were still live. And as for those electricians leaving the panel door open and going for lunch, man I hope their public liability is good, can you imagine if a kid had wandered in?
