I really love this ending so I cut away that slapstick scene with the bunch beetle and the scene were the Grandma says she knew he would fck up, I thought it destroyed the atmosphere, it's just a small edit if you want to see the original scene look it up.
Hope you like it.

What’s worse is that, realistically, the baby would probably be the first to die, followed by the other family members one by one until Earl (the one with most body fat) was the only one left, his final moments filled with guilt over what he did to the world and his family.

But in the episode "The Last Temptation of Ethyl" he was asking Fran if he could go to the afterlife, and was told not for a long time. But now it looks like the baby is about to get his wish on that. And even if he does, he'll experience eternal happiness. And what's sad is nobody ever feels any remorse or guilt for their reckless actions until it's too late, which is reality just the same.

This might seem a little off topic, but once, in relation to the Greek myth of Pandora and how hope was the only thing left in the box/jar, I read someone comment on that it represents how hope is a fragile illusion humans hold onto when they have nothing left. That kind of sums up this scene in a nutshell. The family is holding onto this fragile illusion because what else are they supposed to do at this point? There are no actions left to take, no problems with fixable solutions, nothing.

I actually really respect the fact that the creators had the balls to end the series like this despite being targated to a family audience I know the show wasn't afraid to talk about mature subjects such as censorship, racism, drug abuse, sexism and more, but for the most part they kept the comedy pretty light hearted, but here there's no sugar coating the grim reality, and the fact that they not only take it seriously but actually have the characters we grew to love watching die (including the baby) that takes serious guts that even a lot of adult shows don't have There's a reason why this finale is remembered and why this show is considered to this day to one of the best, most smartly written sitcoms of all time

I really appreciate the show making Earl feel so human here. He wasn't just apologizing, he was sharing his perspective as someone who has messed up horribly, and provides what was going on through his head. It doesn't feel like an excuse. "It's so easy to take nature for granted, because it's always there. And technology is so bright, shiny and new." It sounds more like he's recognizing that the error he made is likely something that several like him would fall into, and actually wise minds would actually have the insight to think "nature matters more than this." That, and having the respect for his family to own up and apologize in the first place. The way he talks to Baby and the rest of the family truly feels more like he owes them something that he is willing to give, and less like he's trying to seek comfort in the idea that it's going to be okay. "Daddy was put in charge of the world, and he didn't take real good care of it." He could have said that the world was too hard to handle or some other excuse, but he owns up to the fact that "he didn't take real good care of it."

We couldn’t believe that’s how they ended the show. Even to this day this ending gets me. I haven’t watched a full episode of “Dinosaurs” since knowing the outcome for all these characters is bleak. For the bears and the lions and all manner of animals and insects to see human beings and befriend us where possible, and to enable a form of mutual communication (although this will require some genome modification). I am for the preservation of utilization of every species, but in service to mankind instead of as part of a wild untame world which is lethal to humanity. There's something about the characters in any show acknowledging that this is the end and saying "goodnight" or "goodbye" to the audience gives me MEGALODON goosebumps. But this just flat out cuts me to the core. This must be how the house of El felt when they could do nothing except await Krypton's destruction. Only difference between them and this is that the Dinos didn't have any viable planets to send any of them to😢

The fact that Baby Sinclair looks so convinced his pops is right as everybody - Earl, Fran, Robbie and Charlene look with faces that are like "We're fucked..." is really sad because they didn't have the heart for the baby to learn that despite him being only two or three years old, he won't survive much longer.

With the way people are acting in society the last since 1993 but really over the last 150,000 years. Humans don't deserve any place on any planet. We fight, and kill, and cause the extinction of plants, animals, and even other people! We destroy the healthy body and move on to a new one, then reproduce and proceed to destroy that! I'm sorry to be a downer, but the sad reality is that when we're gone, the planet can begin to heal. We have more than enough resources for everyone to live comfortably on this planet, yet we go to war and fight and kill because two old farts can't get along or agree on how to make themselves richer while destroying our freedom and keeping us poor and distracted with all the myriad of crap they can produce in an endless routine of control and conquer 😅 in short... Greed, envy, and hate will destroy this planet's surface and everyone and everything on it!

They could have SO EASILY played this ending for comedy. Easy. Dad just says, "It's not like we're just gonna disappear!" Cut to present day, the family is comically posed as fossil skeletons in a museum as the goofy theme music plays and humans point and smile (which is exactly what I expected to happen while watching as a kid). Dark and macabre yes but... I just could not believe what a dark, mature and soul crushing ending they went for... which I'm glad/sad for.

The fact that several dinosaur characters are named for oil companies (Earl Sinclair, Mr. Richfield, Ms. Shell, etc.). should have been a clue, since after hundreds of millions of years the dinosaurs and their habitat turned into the oil we pump out of the ground and seas today. Even the name Earl is an alternative (dialectical) pronunciation of, "oil".

I remember watching the dinosaurs sitcom reruns when I was a kid but I only saw the ending of it a few years ago on a list of darkest episodes of kids television programs. This was so freaking dark and I never would have guessed this is how it would end. The way the family just sits together quietly while the snow comes down outside sent to chill on my spine and the"Good night and goodbye" was so emotionless that there was some genuine dread in that scene.

This show didn't pull any punches, but they always put a great comedic twist on everything. Well. Except the show's grand finale. They knew the show wouldn't go on and instead of a meaningless episode that would neatly tie into endless re-runs, they made _this._ An episode that just hits you like a ton of bricks with its finality and the message attached to it. They had this one shot to make something truly meaningful and they did. It's simply amazing and I doubt there's a show with a similar demographic like it.

Dude, I just saw the dishwasher wasn't completly filled when someone turned it on and I was like "someone doesn't want that our ancestrals have a future" sounds extreme but the thing is, if it's filled completly then it's more efficient than washing them by hand. I know you might not believe in climate change, but I feel like it's true and if we just weren't so lazy, I mean, the "someone" also puts plastic into the wrong trashbin, it would be so easy to at least, at the very least, to not do that... I dunno man, my mind just changed today, I mean I was always prudent with nature, whenever I could take the bikecycle I did and another "someone" is always like "I could drive you" and I'm like "why would you do that, biking is good for me and nature, that are two clear heavy arguments" like what, the thing that changed is how I see the actions of others, like described above. I forgot were I wanted to go with this lol, have a nice day

Most finales end on a high note, either the main characters move on and part ways, and get a nice future, or ending on a cliffhanger, set for a sequel series, even the realistic ones they end happily or at least bittersweet, but really they're happy endings. But this show, it just ends in a hopeless and depressing setting, the main characters accepting their fate, and this was the actual finale, no cliffhanger, no set up for future season or new series, just plain hopelessness

Being a little kid this greatly confused me but being an adult now re-watching this made me realize how dark this was. The little comments, the dead quiet atmosphere with no sound except a gust of wind, and the reporter at the end giving up. Usually you'd expect a positive or goofy ending especially for a kids show like this but the fact it ends with the show implying they'll all freeze to death is messed up. Also props to the puppeteers and people working the animatronics. It ain't mentioned enough but those little details really add weight to the whole thing.

I think the shot of the Fruitco sign is a beautifully poignant moment. The project that set off the chain of events that led to their demise… ultimately failed BECAUSE of the chain of events it caused. The dinosaurs caused their own destruction due to their greed and short-sightedness. And what will be the sign shown when future creatures see a show called “Humans”?
