I remember my 1st ride on that monster , I was in my early 20's >>> almost 55 now ... I was hooked . I have hereditary heart disease now and a low ejection factor on my heart which makes it hard to breath and a bit tough to rip like my days of being young . Never lose your health .. Really thankful for GoPro and guys like yourself that let me at least relive some of my days as a Rocket Man ..I bet that young guy would get faster on those laps after riding the 500 more. Takes some balls and some time to get use to it .

@@michail1963 that’s a very tough lesson to learn. The hard way. The bikes must be tuned to something and then ridden within their limits so that nobody gets hurt. But all I see is riding that exceeds the components ability. What seems like a basic jump landing on the flat surface actually causes the motor to slam into the dirt track and the wheel rims to buckle etc.. Every crash for the last 15 years is caused by riders exceeding the engineering limits. Everyone’s got slow motion video footage now, so you can see the components fail during a race. Tune the suspension for cornering instead of jumps cause the jumps tuning was done by the designer in the factory.

Probably the sickest power curve ever. Short stroke big bore that wound up like a 250. Un fuckin real! I have always wished KTM would revisit that displacement with the short rod big jug. If you’ve never thrown a leg over one you should track one down and give it a squeeze. Better yet! Find one and stuff the motor in a modern chassis…. Either way I would enjoy hearing your take on that motor… Thanks for all the rad content. Long live the smokers!

I've converted mine to a Supermoto and I still want more grunt. I think that a CR500 is just too brutal which in turn makes for a slower lap time or Addo needed more time to get comfortable on it.. 🤷♂

@dreyn77804 жыл бұрын
There's only 1 problem, guys. You know how when somebody says that statement, it always leads to you having to redo everything over again. The bike designer wants you to go around corners with the throttle set near 50%. You need to take out the look at me jumps and the egotistical straights and tighten up the rear shock wheel spin timing delay setting, and learn to master an oval race. You've tuned the rear to DELAY wheel spin until You're halfway down the straight. But YOU thrashed the throttle 5 metres out of the corner. That causes the rear tyre tread to dig a hole in the track. They didn't give YOU control of the springs. If you drop engine revs to zero going around corners, you've also set the springs to no load. I bet you drive all these Unique bikes, the same way. How is it possible that you can make unique parts behave like their all the same part? No load on the springs means NO droop setting and the wheels will get airborne everytime you drive over a depression in the track surface. You're insane. You can't even control your track position going around corners.

Good throttle response: on another page lost into a black hole anywhere www there was a story very interesting for you guys. Eric Geboers told the HRC mechanics one day, to mount him a one size smaler carburator (36 right? Can't remember). Those times mid '80s when HRC RC 500 were dominating the class of kings everybody was looking to have more power and the strongest bike as possible to win the holeshot at least with 39 guys try the same like you do. First view the works mechanics couldn't trust their ears Mr. 875 was demanding. So, they make a deal. One race an we will see. He won both holeshots that day! He explainded later, he had a better feel of traction with the smaler carburator. The time GP's had 2 x 40 minutes plus 2 laps a day on 70 horespower works bikes for guys like Eric ... R.I.P. Eric "Mr. 875" Geboers and thank you for those great memorys! 3 times Enduro du Touquet winner (1988, 1989, 1990 all on RC530 and longer swingarm) and five time world champion: amcn.com.au/editorial/remembering-eric-geboers/ Saw him racing at the german GP/Northeim 1988, MXdN 1985 + 1989 Gaildorf/Germany, fantastic rider!
