Did you check out BamaBass.. He bought an 80 acre peanut farm to hut and build a huge pond.. The center of the property was a 250 year old red oak. Beautiful tree that was taken down by a hurricane last month. I think y'all could make a deal for something awesome. Its a fishing channel plus....

Nice hemlock. I actually used hemlock to build my (now gone) clothesline steps outside. The only thing left of it was the hemlock. The spruce rotted away. lol It's harder than nails once dried, and we had to drill holes in order to put the nails in to hold it down. Can't wait to see the hemlock sawed myself. Have a wonderful weekend!!! Ooh.. don't forget to do a bit of work on the tire covers on your trailer. I saw that they are pretty well touching your tires, and you don't need a blowout when hauling those trees. Just a hammer or a pry bar should give you enough space so you don't wreck those tires.

I would like to give you some advice my father gave me. "Never leave rings on your fingers when working under the hood". He saw to many people get hurt or loose fingers. My dad was a mechanic in the military all his adult life. In the navy, he repaired and overhauled engines during the Korea war while at sea. In the army, he repaired cars, trucks, tanks and anything else they had with an engine. During his final year's he was sent to Fort Rucker to learn helicopter repair which he did until retirement. Stay safe!

I had to cut a wedding ring that was mashed on a boss one time. His wife was really mad and accused him of wanting the ring off on purpose. I think they were fighting then. I had to actually tell her "either the ring gets cut off or I cut the finger off". Ring vs diagonal cutters...no contest
@troytreeguy

My wedding ring is very important to me and so long time ago I decided that what it symbolizes is lot more valuable than my finger so there it’ll be when I weld and work on my equipment and cut trees all day and if the day should come that the finger comes off I’ll just pick another😆

My mom had a candle business many years ago and she would take the sawdust from the handmade decorative crates and mix it into some wax in a cardboard cup and make fire starters. That single bucket load would have made a ton of them. The other ideas on here, especially the wood pellets idea, are great.

I’ve been equally guilty many times when assembling things. Getting done and saying “crap i forgot to put that part in”. I helped my brother rebuild a front differential in his Jeep. Similar story. Had to tear it all back apart. You live and you learn. that grapple boom truck would sure be nice to have for picking up logs. You could rig up dust collection pretty cheap. A long flex hose to a harbor freight dust collector mounted on the ceiling. Discharge pipe running to outside to a covered storage bin. I was wondering how you handled yours. Looks like a beautiful day there. Living the dream my friend working the land, sawing logs, timber framing. Life is good. Awesome video as usual. I really liked the choreographed steps in the beginning. -Ben

Hi I'm a fan of the show and I saw your comments about the sawdust and you having to get rid of it by burning it I know of another use for it people who grow mushrooms use it. They put it with other plant matter like grains into one or two gallon plastic bags and then put the mushroom spores in it and after awhile it turns white and fuzzy that's the mushroom spore then they make cuts in the side of the bag and the mushrooms grow out of the openings there's some steps I probably forgot but it's easy to do. Some even use straw as a medium to the them some people use just hardwood logs to grow mushrooms and that takes a plug you tap into the log you could make alot of money just using the waste products of your sawmill. I hope this helped and I'll be watching your videos.. thanks

Howdy Nathan , all the way from Tasmania! Our little island was raised on small sawmills and we have some of the most beautiful timbers you will ever see like Tasmanian Blackwood, very much like your walnut, myrtle, a lovely hardwood ranging from blonde to deep maroon and Huon pine, that's so rot resistant they pull thousand year old pieces from lakes and rivers for craft work( it grows so slow it can't be commercially logged anymore and is protected). My cousin has a small mill like yours, and the same sawdust problem, but he got himself a pellet maker and his kids process the sawdust into pelets for animal bedding and fuel for pellet heaters and thats how they get their pocket money(after they pay dad for the machine rental and raw material, after all business is business lol) is this something you have considered ? Anyway love your videos keep up the good work.
@texasjetman

love to see that wood from Tasmania, love to see you post a video on KZbin or share some pictures please, I was in Costa Rica last year and saw some pretty amazing old growth slabs leaning on fences for sale locally, but no way to bring them back to the USA in my suit case, just not going to happen. Great idea on the pellet maker, for wood sawdust to make pellets and sell them for cash return income. I even thought of making my own chipper machine to make shavings and try to bag them and sell them to horse folks.

I didn't read all the comment so if this is a repeat, I apologize. When you disconnect the grapple, how do you release the pressure on the hoses to help the next time you reconnect. I fully close the grapple, shut the tractor off, turn the power on and work the open/close function to equalize the pressure. Makes connecting the hoses a snap.

A 3rd function is awesome, especially not having to run hoses back to the rear remotes. Enjoy your videos. Know the sentiment about putting things together and having parts left over. Jealous of your garden, Have had a very hot dry summer (even for Arizona) that was better for killing plants than keeping them alive. One thing you might address to viewers is how to garner relationships with tree service companies, which it appears you source a lot of your material thru. Here the forests are a 25+ mile one way trip for Ponderosia pine or maybe a juniper. We have mesquite in the deserts but big stuff is rare out side of a yard or irrigated area. Yard trees depends what was planted some areas like Phoenix have a lot of introduced exotic tropical species. Here the biggest trees are Allepo pine and Eucluptus, with the odd mullburry ,Sycamore, or olive, most everything else is under 6" (eg red Pistach). Do you only soruce specific species or is it make something out of what ever turns up....

A thought on the wood shavings would be to make and sale wood pellets for stoves, or sale it to people who are in the business already, a way to keep from burning potential funds.

The videos are awesome. Please keep them coming. One request, please wear eye protection when using your sawmill and your chain saw. That’s based on my 30 years as a paramedic and seeing preventable injuries that really change lives. Plus think of your status as a role model 😁

STHIL or Husqvarna - I find that it really depends on the individual saw model. But they are comperable .. Chevy/Ford/RAM - each has the devout followers. What you have to buy are the Commercial saws and not the homeowner saws. Everything is just a step up - and they last. I have 40 year old saws that start up on the 3rd or 4th pull to this day even after sitting for a while They cost more up front, but you are buying reliability and safety - it's the cheapest insurance against a bad day you are going to find. Don't cut corners on the tools - the more inherently dangerous the tool, the more you want to buy the "pro" or "Commercial" model

Good to see you get the hydraulics sorted out. Just curious, do you use a metal detector on yard or fence line logs to keep from hitting metal with your saw?

For those with outdoor boilers that burn all types of wood you might want to tell viewers to swing buy but first by calling you to pickup firewood. Buddy of mine does that and throws the sawyer $20 so he can clean out his cutoffs. He generally shows up driving a 10 wheel dump truck. He takes everything including sawdust. But he lives in Northwestern Maine.
