I love this! My family and neighbors still think I’m some kind of weirdo packing big bags of manure from the barn to my house. But the old timers don’t. 🥰 Our house is on the side of a hill (where they were able to drill and find water) so our yard is a rock pile. I’m slowly fixing that with old hay and manure, with the help of my chickens. Best life ever. 🥰 So blessed! Love your videos and love your family! Poop is powerful. My grandma used to get a load of cow poop dumped on her garden every fall. That was the only fertilizer she used. Unfortunately we are now in the time of grazeon and they powers that be have poisoned the poop. 😢

We get deer & wild turkeys through the yard. If the turkeys leave enough to bother scooping, I'll toss it in the compost. The deer, of course, leave bigger piles. In the spring, I use a rake to scatter most of it in the lawn or wherever, otherwise it goes in the compost or in the dog poop bag.

I have that shirt in green! As of now, my only steady supply is horse manure. I’ve heard that horses don’t process food as well. Other than “compost, compost, compost” do you have any tips? I’m afraid to just dump it directly onto my overwintering garden. I have enough grass and weeds to deal with already.

I wonder if it's not the drying of the cow manure, but the aeration of the cow manure which is helping. (Obviously both happening at the same time). The poop food web probably changes a lot towards aerobic over several days.

Any herbivores or omnivores can contribute to the poo pile, but what about your carnivores, like dogs and cats? Yes, humanure must be dealt with separately because it is most likely to contain human specific disease microbia. Most diseases don’t cross contaminate between different species. IMO, the greatest source of poo is the one that can’t be used: political excretion, especially verbal.

I was told by a farmer/septic tank owner that you can use human waste, but has to sit on the field/garden for a yr before you can plant anything on/it. I've seen big name septic companies (Roto Rooter), going out to dairies to dump. Pig manure can be used as well, but it also has to sit for a year & apparently be kept separate for a yr. I watches a video where someone used worms to compost the dog/cat manure.
