He wasn’t in the middle of the city centre. While central, the area he was in was the harbour entrance which is the furthest west you can go from the city centre without crossing the river.

💔This disappearance and the one where it’s believed the young man ended up in a dumpster, was the catalyst for why my husband and I told our son that if he ever goes out drinking, our sweet boy is to call us and we will come get him. No taxi, no Uber, one of us. And thankfully we were provided with confirmation that he didn’t just nod and say “yeah sure” a few months ago when he got too drunk to drive for the first time. He called us at 2ish and his dad and I got up got dressed and went and got him and his car. He stayed at the bar until we got there and his father and I were able to sleep easy knowing he listened.

You are both wonderful parents. I am so glad you did otherwise he may have become another statistic and the police act upon reports of missing persons far too late. Even when families explain how out of character these events are for that particular person. Different story eh if the police chief's son/ daughter went missing.

Great parenting. I know probably inconvenient to get up out of bed at 2am, and always wishing your kid was a little more responsible, but that is always more preferable than any bad outcome. People don't just reach age 18/21 and magically know how to be making the best decisions. Wish all parents looked out for their kids like this.

That's my thought. Same happened in Swansea. 10 young men who went missing in 10 years all found drowned in the marina. Young men, probably with alcohol in their system, no rail around the marina, in the dark.... (the council eventually agreed to put a rail up)

@@MsPinkwolfsomething similar happened in Manchester in the early noughties. They were finding so many young men dead in the canal that they briefly thought there was a serial killer on the loose. I work as a cleaner ( outdoors ) at the Harbourside estate in Bristol ! The missing posters are of course still pinned up at the site . Having gotten to know many local residents over the six or so years that I have worked there , including someone who has lived on one of the boats in the dock for many , many years , and it is that persons view who I would value the most as she has known about many things that go on in that area all around the Harbourside . Now , she obviously is not a detective , but does have years of experience of what goes on in those areas ! It is her view that most likely he went into the water , she has known it to happen many , many times over the years , and there are possible ways why a body has not been found , she has told me that if a body gets snagged up on something it may never resurface ! It's truly tragic , and heartbreaking for his family and friends , our hearts really do go out to them ! It's also tragic for us as well , the people who live and work in Bristol ! Hope there is a solution forthcoming !

Maybe I am wrong but I think AirTags do not work using GPS. You can track their location because they „connect“ to other Apple devices in the area. I don’t know what “registering“ is supposed to mean in this case. If Jack was able to track its location on his phone then the problem might be that his phone was also lost. So nobody in his family or friends group can track the items because they have not been connected to their phones/devices.

The fact that he had an airtag on him and yet they still haven't found him is concerning. According to Apple's own site, they are trackable for up to 800ft outdoors and 100ft indoors, and you can get them to play a sound to help you find them - however they aren't waterproof - only splash resistant, so I guess this may lend credence to him ending up in a body of water?

The main theory seems to be that he ended up drowning in the River Avon sometimes after his last CCTV sighting at 3:40am while walking up the Bennett Way slip road towards Hotwells. If so, how come his phone was still traceable to that adress in Granby Hill at 5:40am or that it remained active until 6:44am? If he ended up in a body of water wouldn’t his phone have died way earlier? (iPhone 11 can only withstand being submerged in six feet of water for a maximum of 30min). If he indeed drowned around the time of his last sighting does it mean that he was somehow separated from his phone? Meaning that he could have dropped it on dry land before ending himself in the water?

Jack and Riley cases are very similar. Both 22 both college educated or in process of graduating. went missing after leaving somewhere where there’s was alcohol. Both see near water. Both Disappeared in March. I even see the map where Jack went missing from says “Cumberland basin “ Riley was recovered from the Cumberland River in Nashville. As a 22 year old myself… seeing the cases of males in my age group succumb to similar circumstances is eerie.

I've been following the case since it first appeared in the news. I am surprised by the 3:30 call and the simple "Hello" before the call ending, yet the phone was still charged and working hours later, but also that he was seen walking 30 minutes after the 3:30 call. It could be down to a bad signal, but I do wonder why Jack didn't talk for longer or call back. Did his friend try again? This could say something about his state of mind if not related to a bad signal.

Sadly, if he did end up in the water, it may be years before his body is found. A friend of mine who works for the fire brigade in Newcastle, where sadly there have bwen numerous suicides with people jumping off the bridges, told me that some go so deep into the mud when they fall that it can take a significant amount of time before the body reappears. The tides and currents also obviously play a huge role.

He drank a lot. His bladder was full. He decided to "relieve himself" near, or in the river. His blood pressure dropped suddenly, as a result, and he became faint. He was already preoccupied with his phone, and he fell in the water and drowned. it's very sad, but this happens to young, drinking, party goers, quite a bit. 😢

I was born in Bristol and grew up close by. Poor Jack…he’s not the first lad to have disappeared after a night out where water is nearby. I remember hearing at the time when he disappeared. No body, nothing…..if he fell into the water, why has he not been found?

Born and raised, still live in Bristol. The waters are deep and dark, and extremely polluted. If he's in the water then it's impossible to see him from the surface. Also, boats come and go 24/7. Don't know if it works like this but couldn't the movement of the boats move the body further out, maybe towards the sea?

My cousin disappeared all night this year in the next closest bigncity to Bristol . He was spiked and robbed of his designer shoes, belt, wallet and phone but his phone was never located and cards never used. He was found in the morning. With Jack having nice shoes, a nice jacket etc I wonder if he befell a similar fate but something went wrong/he was robbed violently.

This is strange. While it's true that young, drunk guys + bodies of water often = drowning, there's usually a body that turns up after a few days. Human bodies normally float. That's why nefarious folks who want to dispose of bodies in lakes or rivers usually weigh them down with concrete blocks or something. If you're trapped in a car, that's different, because the body is enclosed and can't float up, but all indications are that he was on foot.

Apparently it is possible for the mobile service provider to be able to tell roughly _how_ the phone powered down. A phone will gracefully log off from the network if it shuts down cleanly, i.e. if it's manually powered down, or it shuts itself down in orderly fashion when the battery gets too low. Bear in mind modern smartphones do not have removable batteries so it couldn't be turned off that suddenly unless it broke. In this case, those particular details are not known to the public.

It is true that some young men fall into water if walking home & drunk. Friends should be going home together. However I don't think Jack fell in water. The last ping was well past any body of water. Jack went past open areas of water early in his journey., so if he was disoriantated would he of not fallen in the open bank early on. The bridges have barriers so not an area where you can just fall into the water. One cctv footage appears he has a jog or run. He heads to the road and not the footpath on the bridge. People don't tend to run if they are really drunk. People at the party need to be questioned, and access to their phones. Where are his friends from this party? They've been quiet, too quiet. Apple needs to give the family information from Jack's tag. Just my opinion but something doesn't sit right & there must be some foul play at hand. The Police have made assumptions here. I hope the OSullivans find Jack, this is desperately sad and my heart goes out to Jack's family.

Is it just me or is SIX MONTHS a bit too long to wait to retrieve cctv & dashcam footage 🤨 Presumably they were asking for further footage than what they already had gathered but even still surely the call should have gone out far sooner. This stuff gets overwritten and deleted.

I wonder what made him change his mind about calling a cab. He wasn't too drunk to text his parents about it then he starts walking and seems to get lost. Many cases also involve one friendly, educated young man who breaks away from the crowd and walks around a city until he disappears or is found to have supposedly walked into water. I know they're usually treated as a self inflicted tragedy but something tells me there's more to a lot of these cases

So sad. Most likely scenario is that Jack went into the water. It happens a lot and if you live in a watery area you get an idea for how easy it is when under the influence, tired or disorientated to lose your footing and fall in. The cold water disables people v quickly.

Very good documentary, I feel that all the friends at the party, should be questioned again if they had not already been so and the exact position of where Jack’s phone signal is of great importance, The last call that Jack received when he spoke and said hello but was abruptly cut off is the important one. I feel that person holds the key as to what has happened to Jack. As these were new friends and Jack didn’t know them very well they need looking at again

In America a jumper is a dress and a trainer is a bra for a pre-teen girl so when I hear these things while engrossed in a story it always sort of startles me and for a split second I go "What did they say he was wearing? Ooooh, right." I know, I know. It's this odd little thing but I suppose that when your brain has something so ingrained it automatically puts on the brakes because everything suddenly makes less sense. I hope this man is found safe and sound. But I know the reality and I would be happy for him to just be found at all for his parent's sanity. Losing a child is the worst with the exception of losing a child and not knowing what befell them. That is a punishment that no parent should ever have to go through.

Sadly, I think it's highly likely that he ended up in the water. There are some truly awful stats about young men falling into water, especially after nights out. In Manchester in the early noughties, they briefly thought that a serial killer was on the loose as so many young men were being fished out of the canal. Unfortunately, it turned out that the victims had misjudged how badly affected they were by alcohol and / or drugs (as young men often do) and had lost their balance and fallen in.
