I think Season 4 launch may have really sealed the fate of New World. I'm not sure if its negligence or they actually want to kill their own game but its beyond belief how we always end up here. Even the Expansion and Season 3 launch, for as exciting and fun as it was at the start, was also stained by bugs and performance issues from the beginning. I remember the first few weeks of having more fun in the game than I had had in a very long time, but I also remember the horrible memory leak issue that made me have to constantly restart my game. It's so frustrating how many of us long time loyal players get slapped in the face time and time again.

It is sad to see an MMO with such incredible potential continue to make the same mistakes and develop so slowly. No other new MMO has captured my attention like New World has for a long time. The direction they have been going is generally great, but numbingly gradual and in a manner that seems to be too lacking for anyone except dedicated fans. I love this game man, but I don't have the excitement to work towards my goals right now. Need that roadmap hopium injection.

They are under funded, under staff and overwhelmed. The people that they have don't even play the game. They don't listen to players, they closed the forums, and there is no way they hear anything we say. Duke, I think you're great but too often I hear you making excuses for them. Now after more than 2-1/2 years into this we still have the same problems. The problems from a lack of testing from a lack of preparation and execution. The game has become a grind. There is no end game content. I've noticed they have implemented tactics to make the game more of a grind. What come out of the chests today is fewer legendary items and much more green and epic rewards and sometimes all I get is greens. In OPR, today I started to get worthless crafting charms as a reward. There is a lot duplicity, as they stretch out play because they don't have a clue as to what to do next. My morning started with all my furniture in my three homes as missing - gone. They are aware of the problem. The game started to crash, my mount started to run funny, my dash bar disappeared, and eventually I got kicked and could not return. Are they not suppose to be getting better at this not worse?

That furniture is just a visual bug. I wasn't getting greens all day yesterday. After all this is an MMO, there will be grind to an MMO. This game is actually Alot easier in terms of grind then what it used to be. But yes this season launch was a disaster. The bugs are annoying. One thing they did fix was the gunshot noises when mining :). Azoth cap at 2500 is nice. They got rid of the cooldown limit on the trade skill bonus items.. also nice. I was on a dead server instead of my main (lilith) because of the crashes and i didn't have nearly as many problems as people on more populated servers.

I now quit the game after 5k hours playtime. It was a great time mostly and i always had high hopes for the future of New World. But i dont see it anymore, im out of copium and so are many others. I still watch your videos Duke to keep me somewhat updated in case a miracle happens (maby a little bit copium still left in the tank lol) but watching your recent uploads and the dev videos (which are still a great thing but i honestly think they kinda gave up) just paint the picture pretty clear. This is very sad and i hope they actually take their lessons and make the LotR MMO what New World could have been. They've demonstrated that their seasonal model simply isn't something they can reliably sustain. I worried about this when they announced season one. They used to struggle to push big updates out frequently so they told us they're moving to the seasonal (and very heavily monetised) model to alleviate this... Besides them getting more money... What has changed? I don't see the evidence this is working. They've just painted themselves into a corner with this tight schedule. They can't sustain it but... They are charging players for it. They need to do something.

I'm sorry but as a developer myself I'm blaming the developers. This is not the 1st time they've released a new expedition, in fact they came out with a few this year so they SHOULD have developed procedures for releasing these things bug-free and safely. Same with story quests and instead they seem to get buggier and buggier. What's worse is that, as you said, they DO NOT listen to players at all and just release those content videos in which they all look relaxed and smug as if everything is going great with the game. These people are incompetent and clueless about their own game. You can tell that from the idiotic decisions they are making, e.g. by creating massive gold sinks to "decrease gold inequality" between hardcore players and casual players which ends up screwing over new players the most, or nerfing PVP arena xp because God forbid people progress PVP tracks by playing arenas...

Considering the money to hour ratio, this is still pretty insane. Many $60 AAA titles dont have the depth that NW has. For the budget they've had, I think the dev team is doing quite well. If I was in charge of directing the LOTR IP, I would feel pretty good moving forward when weighing the budget against quality.

I personally think the team investing too many resources into these limited time seasonal stories is hindering their ability to improve the base game of NW. Why are they releasing time-sensitive content (in the sense that they are stuck on a seasonal schedule releasing stories/expeditions every 2-3 months, _and_ making it so that content they just invested development into is no longer avaliable once the season is gone. This also makes the process of creating artifacts less thought out if they need to release a few of them to coincide with every season release) when the base game is in desperate need of revisiting to improve the core gameplay experience? Additionally, Im kinda just not a fan of the Grace O Malley subplot? Since each of the quests are limited-time, Ill never be invested in what happens because I know itll never be important to the main plot. Id rather them add post-expansion quests that give us more story with our new allies like the Beast Lords/Taurus, because we know theyre supposed to be relevant for the future of New World's ongoing plot.

In response to the dev team being too small: it is absolutely not trivial to scale up a development team. The communication, tooling, … efforts explode with a bigger team size. A small team might often times move faster, but only if they are competent enough, everyone is enabled to do stuff and the engine and code is well structured and allows for easy addition of Features. I think you are 💯 spot on with your assessment regarding the state of things for the Dev team. It is hard to implement new ideas and balance changes working with an unreliable engine. It is an up hill battle for Devs when the tools you have to work with are a hot mess.

yea when you think about alpha when it was dark souls combat with no skills, no perks, no weapon skill trees, no medalions, no dungeons and nnno citys then a year and a half later they added all of this in to this engine and expect it to work was its downfall. they should have kept the dark souls game with the free building player built citys with the survival sandbox theme and created this as the second game and really just worked on it from the money from the first game and make this a success

the developers put themselves shackles on with the leaderboard, the seasonal updates, the roadmap etc. they put a high amount of expectations and deadlines up and it shows, that they are not able to put out the number of content they committed to. i also don´t think, that they are incompetent but it is impossible to deliver to people who are playing new world 8 hours a day. Other devs are "allowed" to push releases months back without strong backlash. For New world it could mean its death by sub-communities ( example: companies ) disappearing. they are drowning and running out of time but their technical debt only grows larger. the devs or project lead or whatever are not bad. they are just playing a survival game where every ressource is going downhill: player numbers, amount of content, time, maybe also funding.

They should've nailed it on release when everyone (including Jeff Bezos) was watching. Upon successful launch, they would have gotten all the support they needed from headquarter. However, having said that, we can't blame NW devs alone on this. They're an indie studio afterall and if Headquarter(Amazon) knew the game was garnering massive attention then they shouldve stepped in and helped with quality control. But they didn't do this because they didn't know how to. If AGS was acquired by Rockstar or other triple A studios, it would've had a much better launch.

Im gonna guess what's the problem with the "cuts" and "bugs" in season 4.......it's December and everybody in Amazon Games are in effect on Hollydays. I mean they are in "lazy" mode enabled. For example, after this patch many players, like me, lost all the furniture including Ultimate Trophies in their houses. After hours waiting for a solution from the Devs i decided to click on the button "Remove all the furniture" of the house, and guess what, all the missing furniture appeared on the town stash.

Dude, warframe literally normalized new bugged content sience day 1, they have not delivered everything they primse. For example: the lich spaceships once it reachs max level. The hyper bugged railjack game mode that almost no one plays. Not to mention the random bugs from their open worlds like eidolon. I don't understand how people have basically been giving NW a pass on its major issues (bugs, lack of content, meandering development, lack of PvP investment) for over two years now. Yes, the combat is good -- when it works. But the game's other issues are so prevalent and persistent, its one redeeming quality -- again, combat, WHEN IT WORKS and is not bugged -- cannot save the game. It's not enough. It's time to stop saying "yes but the combat is good" and just accept that the game will never, ever be what it might have been. And LOTR is, unfortunately, doomed as well, I fear.

Usually, I bought every premium season pass. But I will not buy it this time because there is no worthwhile content to buy the premium pass. Some of the bugs from the past season still need to be addressed. Still, I have to switch my gear every time for lost stats related to magnify (This only happens for my main character). Notifications popped up after OPR was back, and it isn't very pleasant. Yesterday, servers kept crashing. Also, I opened about 100 OPR caches, and none of them dropped Tumbler shoes (which is really frustrating). I don't see quality and quantity is not also there.

I did a couple gleamite meteorites and noticed only 1 meteor chunk was falling to mine. Went somewhere else and ran into four chunks from a meteor. I checked some videos from last year and the meteorites were dropping like 10-12 mineable gleamite. I was in MD, so I dunno if MD is just bugged or the whole event is. Also, I waited 75mins for the day cycle to change when it used to be 28min day/night cycle. I distinctly recall them saying in a video that they made this event easier than last year, but it seems bugged from my experiences today.

yeah i saw two, one in Weavers Fen, one in Monarchs. both dropped 5 things, two big nodes and 3 tiny ones. yes the gleamite meteorites in previous years are massive, 10-15 sounds about right. usually you're scrambling to track and quickly mine everything that fell. very different vibe.

I keep telling people, afaik AGS legit has a sort of hardcap on how many mobs/resources they can add to the world, hence why they are re-using existent places on the map. I think they legit cant add more stuff to the world without taking stuff away. Also why they keep on pumping out dungeons, since those are instanced@@Speltred

ive not seen any but i've mined 2 across 3 chars, just a single node on the floor.. 1st time i saw the event so no dea what to look for tbh. having multiple chars means i cannot grind this event, the token ratio if far too much for me to get the optimal craft gear from vendors, all my chars will miss out on several items over the 4 weeks & im fuming about it.. events should be a side show, not dominate most of my time every day just so i can craft a decent bit of gear without spending all my gold.. its a terrible state for anyone that is not a hardcore player.. and i was just looking at seals & conductors.. i also know i need to level some crafts so the schematics are useful, but the low drop rate & cost of gleamite & other vendor items are almost offensive & is 2 fingers up to most players imo.. i was happy when i saw they were giving players a chance to grab some expensive things for free to help out with these new builds we all have but no... i must forget all other gameplay & go grind all day & night... or do something else...

Lumberyard is done as in it does not exist and LOTR will not be Lumberyard but O3DE. The biggest issue with New World was lumberyard. I know a coder for the game and fact was it was to hard to work with. New World was supposed to me recodded completly by a third party company. What are they using now is O3DE which is open source and many major companies are signed on. Its a major change and will have full Unreal engine support can just drag and drop assets. Lumberyard may have being good at the time but even AGS knows it was crap but its not a easy problem to fix sadly.

They could.of given us the QoL changes till they had the bigger changes ready with less BUGS... Its just so crappy to go from something that is already crappy to something even more crappy... Delays are fine but the QoL changes were absolutely needed asap just to play the game... 🥺

People need to remember their Dev round table a year or so ago. They have 3 or more builds of the game at any given time. Reporting a bug means its on the list for correction, but never ever confirms it will ever been looked at, or action taken. They are a very small studio, with not enough talent, they are told to ship it by suits they have to ship it.

Latency spikes up to 4000 in crowded areas, empty houses, quest bugs. And having to download a shittone of GB with every patch fix... At this point, I wonder, what are they showing to the higher-ups on the YoY performance reports, cause I would decimate this team of incompetent monkeys (starting with executive producers) just after a quick look at the steam charts.

The PTR is a joke, i was stuck right after lighting the fires on season quest and i logged out there only to never see it be able to progress. Whats the point? Valhalla on US East crashed 2x last night, not sure if others did. was a giant disappointment trying to get the coins for event for the cooldowns to start.

first season im not buying, but i also think theres something huge comming in the background thats why alot of stuff is overlooked #copium also mjölnir still converts 100% of your dmg into light, but it acts like it has a lightning gem in it and it is 10% dmg increase instead of 20%., every dmg increase from light dmg buffs is only half of what it should be

@@Billman8686 tested it meticulously with 2 identical builds that only differt by the warhammer i used, your dmg with mjölnir is converted to lightning and is onlny 10% higher than with a normal WH, also the physical bonuses from str tree are only half of what they should be, i assume the code for mjölnir is copy paste from elemental gems thatd explain it

So many other bugs still even after all the fixes this week. MsQ broken. Falling thru floor in other expeditions and S4 soul trials walking on the grid and can't die. Frigid dawn not craftable with material or upgradable at kiln. Other named glacial tarn items in the same boat. Rain of arrows ability bugged. The list goes on and on. Server crashes still happening even after multiple hotfixes. 0 HP ser loth bug and worst of all ags Twitter workaround is actually wrong.
