Yes there are countries where it is common for the “average joe” to have a burner phone and some lead lists to scam old people in their free time. They see it as “dog eat dog” since the old people are affluent and lonely they’re vulnerable to these simple scams and the scammers see it as fault of our society. Like you said they see it as our fault for destroying their economy and optimizing our own, so they don’t care about doing things that we wouldn’t even think to do since it’s easy for us to make the money that they then steal.

Honestly, I half-agree and half-disagree. On one hand, you're right; this type of work may be better for them given the conditions they are in. However... it pays better to just sign up for a short I.T. program, get a certificate, and work in technical support. I've known a few Bangladeshi folks in university who were just about the sweetest people you could meet. Naturally they were in tech because that's part of the pressure that comes with living in a poor country, and I felt bad for one of them because he really wanted to be a painter instead. Hopefully one day he can get himself in a better place and quit his tech job to pursue painting. And that's just the thing; these women are just as capable of finding a better life as long as they actually put in the effort. Yes, it's sad that they have to resort to scamming lonely people, but you have to remember that they are using their time hurting others while people in their same situation will uproot their entire LIVES just to find a better path. If these ladies don't want to follow that better path, then we have every right to criticize them for the path they are on!
