In 1911, a physicist named Ernest Rutherford performed an experiment that led him to the discovery of the nucleus. His observation of this tiny collection of particles opened the door to momentous scientific breakthroughs-including the field of nuclear power.
In this episode of Perspectives, four experts delve into the fascinating world of nuclear reactions, the workings of nuclear power plants, and the benefits and risks of nuclear energy.

I love nuclear physics, and I am happy I excel at it. Thanks for the additional learning material and simple explanation, so I can explain in layman’s terms to people, instead of a long, technical explanation. Haha 😂. We (the US) can use spent fuel in recycled, recovered form… I’ll leave it at that. The Chinese have been doing such since at least 2010. I’d know.

I’d like to hear about the potential for thorium molten salt reactors, as well as small modular reactors.
