On the 12th of January, 1578 - The first-ever drama written in the Polish language, 'The Dismissal of the Greek Envoys', was performed in Poland for the first time! 🎭
Take a look at a complete performance of the play, based on an English translation by Charles Kraszewski and directed by acclaimed director Jason Morell, whose credits include directing for the Shakespeare's Globe. The staging was performed at the The Bear Pit theatre as part of the Polish Cultural Institute's Shakespeare and Poland Festival in Stratford Upon Avon in June 2023.
Exploring the historical backdrop of the Trojan War, The Dismissal of the Grecian Envoys delves into the collision and alignment of state interests with varying perspectives on politics, morals, rationality, and recklessness.
The performance was organised in partnership with the Polish Book Institute (Instytut Książki)
