There’s one hidden mickey that is made by the shadow of a lamp post and can only be seen at one time throughout that day! It’s super cool if you manage to spot it! We tracked it down the first time I went to Disney World in 2011.

These reminded me of the CD-ROM of Walt Disney World I used to have along time ago. It was about the parks there at the time and there was an added game of finding hidden Mickeys in different photographs which was fun. In KH3 I love that they added the hidden mickeys via the "Lucky Emblems" its so much fun to play the game and find subtle but well hidden Mickey ears. Snap a pick of them with your Gummiphone and unlock different items! Awesome extra touch from Disney and Square.

I feel like Disney should make a hidden mickey quest. Where you go on a quest in Disney or magic kingdom and try to find a specific number of it. If you get 10 maybe a small gift that you can only obtain doing the quest, 20 extra tickets 30 a free fast past 40 or more random gifts or fast pasts. And maybe, they can change the hidden mickey locations. This is just an idea, it’s not like it’ll actually happen.

The last two times I've gone to Disney (2009 and 2013) I picked up an Unofficial Guide to Hidden Mickey's in a gift shop near the front of Magic Kingdom. It outlines a TON of the ones and is organized so that you can search according to what park you're in and what attraction you're near. It even assigns point values to the ones that are harder to spot. My FAVORITE is an outline of Tinkerbell that you can find somewhere in the exit queue of Big Thunder Mountain.

My all time favourite hidden Micky is on the Rock And Roller Coster, by the Hard Rock Cafe in Florida. It’s ON the coaster- you have to be on the ride to see it. It’s on a piece of scaffolding you pass under- sort of a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment. There’s one on a billboard that you pass by on the ride as well, but that one is easier to spot.

Interesting fact. As far as I heard, the first time a “hidden Mickey” was spotted, it was by a guest at the Haunted Mansion, stating that the dish plates, like you mentioned, was in fact a “Hidden Mickey”. And that’s when an Imagineer decided to align them as the known silhouette. The domino effect was created and more guests were going into the ride to see the hidden Mickey at the Haunted Mansion. That’s when the new quest to create hidden Mickey’s started, and the quest to find them began. Again, that’s the way I heard it.

The history of Hidden Mickeys is definitely an interesting one. The first published sighting of a Hidden Mickey was by Arlen Miller. In an article for Eyes and Ears, written in 1989, Miller described the different places in the parks where people can find Hidden Mickeys. Months later, Miller was contacted by Disney News for more information on Hidden Mickeys. Disney News then wrote an ensuing article themselves, which spread the word of Hidden Mickeys all over the country.

We were referring to hidden Mickeys in the 1980s before Star Tours was installed in Disneyland. Riding the Adventure Thru Inner Space, once we got to the water scene, when the snowflake was melting, we would always yell out about all the Mickeys floating around us. Water molecules, after all, are one big oxygen atom with two smaller hydrogen atoms normally depicted at about the correct angle for Mickey.

One of my favorites is the one on the nose of the carnataurus in Dinosaur! A cast member told me to keep an eye out for it but it took me three ride throughs to find it!
