It’s only an elevator at Disneyland at Disney World the ceiling raises up, it’s not an elevator. I can confirm this as we were just at WDW and the stretching room part is currently being skipped due to social distancing, and we just walked right through.

I went to Disney World during Covid and they cut out the Stretching Room. I never realized how much the Stretching Room is needed to make the ride as good as it is. Because it did not feel like the Haunted Mansion.

Also, I saw the Indiana Jones Boulder illusion myself on the night before my 20th birthday! The lights turned on and for 30 minutes we were sitting in a stopped Jeep with a boulder spinning in place towards us. I was lucky to see it with my own eyes.

That is so cool! I saw a video one time where people were stuck on Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios and they were in the section where normally you see the the spirals and stuff floating down and hearing The Twilight Zone theme. The lights came on and you could see a mirror and it also looked different. I think those people were stuck there for a half hour before they got to drop. So, those people got to see something that most people wouldn't. If I was on it and got stuck I'd be getting impatient after 10 minutes of sitting and waiting.

It's not an illusion per se, but the way they manage to create a three-dimensional star field in Space Mountain just by simply using disco balls to project lights onto the support structures of the ride has always fascinated me. The movement of said stars creates that iconic feeling of going faster than you really are. Very simple yet very effective and clever

The Indiana Jones boulder illusion was easily the most impressive. I've been on that ride so many times and had NO idea until watching videos online showing it. It has always felt like I was moving backwards. Huge fan of Pepper's Ghost because of its history with magicians. Love learning how illusions are done

The Pirates mirror half skeleton, half human had me SHOOK. In the video you can see the mirror more but in person, SWEAR I rode it three times and tried to figure it out haha.

I used to work Winnie the Pooh in Disney World. The bear figure that floats is actually behind the two way mirror. I believe you said it was reflected on a second mirror at 45 degrees which is untrue. The scene where he’s sitting and falling asleep is reflected but the floating bear is in a black room behind the mirror itself. The light turns on as the figure rotates upwards.

Always been a fan of the peppers ghost effect in Phantom Manor / Haunted Mansion, the ballroom is one of my favourite scenes in the attraction overall. There is also a cool effect in Shanghai Disneyland's version of POTC where a skeleton turns into Jack and it has a giant glass panel to project the skeleton onto the Jack Sparrow animatronic, very cool! Disney puts so much effort into their effects, i love the parks.

Also, in the Haunted Mansion, there was a crack in the glass wall. It would’ve cost a lot and the ride would have been closed for quite a while to replace the whole wall. So, imagineers just made it into a little spiders cob-web!

lightningwu.... Well I know a little bit. Since my mom and me did the Keys to the Kingdom tour on Oct 29th. We did the 10 am one. Since we did not want to be rushed to try to make it to an early one. It was interesting to learn how they make it feel like the boat is floating in the Jungle Cruise ride. Also that Main Street USA heading toward Cinderrella's Castle was built going uphill to slow down the runners for their safety. Also learned some interesting info on the Parade Floats too.

10:39 the mirror doesn't explain it's 3D look when your cart goes by you can see different angles of the characters face. The mirror illusion wouldn't work in that case.

My favorite illusion is the dining room scene in the Haunted Mansion. Once you hear how it's achieved, it makes total sense but still tricks you. Luckily it doesn't ruin the ride for me. It's still just as cool each time I ride.

Last time I went to Disney was my first ever time riding expedition Everest and I remember I got to ride twice because my little brother wasn’t tall enough, both times I yelled DISCO YETI at the top of my lungs the first time everyone just stared at me, the second time I heard half the people yell it too and one even turned around and said he was one of your biggest fans, that made my day
