The coastline paradox doesn't argue that the coast is actually infinite. It's about potential infinite. One of the concepts of infinity, as opposed to actual infinite. Some greek philosopher who's name I'm blanking on, argued that actual infinites cannot exist, and the concept of infinite can only be achieved in a theoretical manner. It's the same mechanic as in the traveller paradox. Also, Shrodinger never said that the cat was in fact dead and alive at the same time. He was mocking the concept of quantum particles not having a defined state, which at the time was a new theory.

i think mark just read some idio-excuse me, misguided individuals, using a wrong understanding of the coastline paradox to argue about quantum mechanics, and in turn got the wrong impression on the nature of the paradox. its too bad that mark is now as uninformed as those idiots but i am happy to see others who do understand, it gives me hope for the rest of humanity

There's still some episodes missing. Namely the "The Burls", the three "Powerwash Pals" episodes, "Top 10 Things, "The Cost Is Correct". The episode "Worth It" is not in the playlist, but it is uploaded. Also most are out of order in the playlist, and it shows a few videos as private, not sure why though... So there's 6 episodes not uploaded, and few other videos are private for unknown reasons.

My own birthday paradox is that my adoptive mother always celebrated my birthday on December 30th. 56 years later my birth mother found me through 23 and Me and told me that I actually was born on December 31st. The question is what day do I celebrate my birthday on? The answer is on a three day weekend I celebrate December 30th through to January 1st.

Im also going to write my guesses as I watch. Pinocchio paradox: what happens if you ask pinocchio a question about something unknown, like who killed JFK. Can pinocchio's nose reveal secrets of the universe or does he have to knowingly lie for it to grow. Russel's paradox: ah crap I forgot some of these are named after people. I have no idea. Coastline paradox: if the coast keeps eroding away itself will all the land erode away? Twin paradox: I like marks guess with time dilation Birthday paradox: either something to do with being born on a leap year or somebody being their own parent due to time travel Burredin's ass: wade's sounds right to me. Two things that look the same with the same name can not be separated Unexpected hanging: you could wake up tomorrow with a noose around your neck and die the moment tou wake up so you should live life to the fullest. I like the analogy of getting hit by a bus better

Coast line paradox is talking abt the infinity between numbers not the infinity of numbers
@Cheri_Blast
@Cheri_Blast 7 күн бұрын
Still bullshit - you can make the paradox’s argument about literally anything, and at that point, does it actually *mean* something, or is it just the result of a couple people overthinking a relatively simple concept?
@richarderguiza7080
@richarderguiza7080 Күн бұрын
@@Cheri_Blast its not people overthinking a simple concept, its people misunderstanding it. im pretty sure it wouldn't actually become literal infinity, just that the number is infinitely going to increase without getting to the actual length. it would get close but i suppose at that point it would become a political question of " how do you define a coast?" and "who gets to set the guidelines of how to measure?" honestly the whole concept sounds line a way to describe the concept of differentials. although i think the paradox is much less relevant nowadays with satellite mapping, the pixels of the satellite images would still technically be causing this problem, but at those distances it goes back to the two political questions above

Distractible, I love you, but you are completly wrong on this one. The Coastline paradox is about fractals and infinite detail. The Coastline, if you were to measure it normally, using those previous methods, as you increase your precision, you find that that converges to infinity. Mathematicians and physisicts thought that was obviously wrong. Like, a physical thing in the real world can never be infinitely large. The Real paradox is how do you measure the coastline in a way that makes sense and actually delivers some information. Very brief summary, the answer to the paradox was that the shape of a coastline is not a 1 dimensional, or a 2 dimensional curve, in fact, it was something in between. All coastlines in the world lie between the dimensionality of 1 and 2. The Coastline of Britain is 1.25 dimensional curve, meaning its real length would be in the unit of m^1.26
