I was not a Britney music fan growing up, I'm 2 years older than her and conditioned to listen to punk only back then, but I remember exactly what the media was putting her through...I was so disgusted by the blatant lies in the headlines, and after she had her babies she clarly had PPD, and was tortured by a cad of a cheating party boy husband. Out of all that nonsense I remember getting ready to go out during that 20/20 episode and Diane Sawyer was doing that interview and I was shocked. I never watched that nasty women again. Come to find out Britney wasn't the only women she talked down to like that. She did it with other women, too...Whitney and Janet deserve apologies as well. She definitely should explain herself.

Honestly, it could be a mix of things. To me, she sounds like a typical mom trying to raise and deal with teenage boys. I didn’t hear anything she said that was horrible. Britney has been working since she was a little girl. She's never been able to have a real childhood, or experience her teenage years and when she tried to have any semblance of her own family, it was all twisted and taken away from her. She was practically imprisoned and abused for 13 years, not to mention the prior years of media scrutiny…who would be “normal” (whatever that means) after all that? We don’t know what sort of help she’s getting now, but it’s unfair to assume that a system *she* asserts was toxic is better for her. I was thinking the same thing about the child support drying up soon, although I'm sure he has a plan B. Acting like he's some monument to domestic stability. I just can't get over the fact that they claim she was too crazy to run her own life, yet not so crazy that they couldn't work her nonstop. I remember only a few years ago people were mocking the fact that Brittany was trying to sell some art for large amounts of money. Admittedly the art wasn't great but I remember there was something odd about it all. Brittany was saying she painted to relax, never mentioning wanting to sell it. I think it speaks volumes that kfed didn't start selling these stories and doing interviews until Brit was released from the conservatership. I can't help but wonder if there is info about him that he is scared will come out so he's trying to make her look bad so that if or when his part in her abuse comes out people won't believe her. I can see why she snapped at her kid for not wearing shoes, after being treated less than a child for YEARS she was reacting how the people that were controlling her would have reacted if SHE was the one to have done that. I don’t think anyone is in the position to say they can relate to how she was feeling at that time to say she should have reacted differently. She was abused. Period. Maybe in her mind she feared him not wearing shoes would come back on her in some way or that her kids would be subjected to similar treatment as her. Or maybe she wanted to exercise her role as their mother and parent her kids as she should be able to, not wearing shoes in Alaska is a pretty risky move, and with the stress, pressure, and abuse she was under something that seems “trivial” to others may not have been the way she was perceiving it. Years ago, Britney liked to walk around barefoot herself. And one time in a 7 Eleven parking lot in Hawaii, she stepped on a needle while barefoot. They had to rush her to get immediate medical attention. It must have been so traumatic for her! So her reaction to her children doing the same thing is completely understandable!

As someone with chronic illness this is exactly how it goes with having a conservator I don't have one thank God. Also recently tried to get in the hospital and had stop (thankfully I was able to) they refused to let me keep my clothes knowing I was going to be allergic to the detergent. Which I had the clothes on less than 2 hours and had hives for days and thoughts of unaliving myself due to the reaction I had to the detergent. They make you change in front them and take all your belongings including my glucose monitor. We treat mentally ill people like literal criminals. And then wonder why people don't seek help.

I have episodes where people need to take money/bank cards off me and monitor me and make me eat and take my medication and keep an eye on me but I can't imagine my life being like that even when I'm okay and stable again and I can't imagine having to work through episodes. Okay, I can't argue with her taking the phone away. I see that as a kid testing the boundaries to see how far he can take it. Trying to get a rise out of her. I would say it is safe to assume the son had been pushing all day and this was the reaction/ response. Her son needs to know a) that is not okay and b) actions have consequences. I do understand how a teenager could be embarrassed by their Mother posting topless photos on their Instagram. Britney’ has a singing and dance career, she was not known as a stripper, so of course her children are entitled to feel the way they feel about that. But it is really horrific to hear the level of abuse her family aimed at her. I have experienced mental illness as well, but my family were incredibly understanding and they allowed me the time to recover from my illness and actually wanted me to take time out. The fact that they didn’t tells me that they saw Britney as their cash cow and they didn’t care for her well being at all. I had no idea, I remember when she first 'went off the rails' when she shaved her head and some other strange things and was put under a conservatorship, I figured it would only be for a little while until she got better, we never really heard about it again. I watched those leaked videos when they first came out. And yall! I have a teenage son. Sometimes I look at that child like he's grown two heads and the devil is coming out of him. Everything at that time was completely blown out of proportion, considering how much media and general public were obsessed with her private life, even her sex life and asking rude, disrespectfull questions. Add to that, the media choosing to leave out the fact that she was just 25 years old, new mother, already left alone just two months after giving birth to her second son, because kevin was wasting her money on private jets and parties on the other side of the country, while britney was hounded by hundred paparazzis daily, even harassed by them to get a reaction and a milion worth shot. Her beloved aunt died of cancer that year, her divorce, loosing custody of her children because of stupid tabloid articles, possibly a post partum depression and most importantly an insesitive family of vultures who made her feel like completely alone in this world and left for everyone to humiliate and mock her pain publicly. I certainly know I wouldn't be as strong as she was during all that and on top of that a 13 years of prison like control and forced labour and being labeled crazy... Blood's boiling when you think about the collective cruelty.
