Though Nehru ji was educated, well mannered and kind enough to entertain "british ladies", He too supported the claim of IML to divide nation on the basis of religion. Though Nehru ji 's daughter married man of other religion, He was against the surname changevof her daughter and hence "gandhi" surname came into effect. In order to maintain contrasted ideology than that of Patel ji, Nehru ji allowed specific minority to settle here to get their voteshare in future elections. Secularism was not their priority it was their need to remain in power.

Please read up a bit more. Nehru, Patel and Gandhi never supported the partition of India based on religion but had to accept the demand for Pakistan because the circumstances were such that it was the only option left. Neither did Nehru play vote bank politics. He'd have surely been forever in power if he actually supported a Hindu India, but he didn't. Yes you can blame him for reforming only Hindu laws and not Muslim laws but then again, we're talking in the context of a post partition India and it was important to make muslims safe in the country. Somebody after him should have taken up on the reforms, but nobody did unfortunately, not even the reactionary Right wing of Modi (except the triple talaq).

@@VipinKumargeo where did I justify the family? Besides Nehru himself, I'm not fan of the other PMs from his family. Also, I've read on why he was made the PM. The Pradesh committee Presidents voted for Patel because Nehru had already been the Congress President twice before, and Patel was getting old. They also wanted to give Patel his due because of his massive contribution to the quit india movement since he was already getting old and unhealthy. Nobody was voting for the PM post, but for the Congress president post. Even in hindsight, Nehru was the correct man to lead India and if he anyone had a problem then why did nobody contest and oppose it? Literally no one?

As far as your question to oppose his candidature is concerned, I think Gandhi was still relevant to convince all in favor of Pt. Nehru. Nasaruddin Sir, Read the same script in Pakistan. Look at their response. Bharat was divided in two/three pieces in the name of religion. Pakistan for Muslim land, India for secular? Why you still surviving india with so much dignity and respect, where as somany non-muslim brutally killed and converted in the name of pakistan. Do you ever think once what pakistan did so far to this world? what Bharat did so far the non-hindus in india. That is called heights of tolerance. Can we put a voting system based on number of kids in the family. Any family more than two or three kids will not get a chance to vote. Those families will be put in cleaning work in the country. That way we make Bharat a clean nation. Tolerance should have some limit. After breaking two to three pieces of land in the name of religion, still talking about secularism ? do you adopt outside kid and raise him with same dignity like your child? shame on you. at this age you are still supporting nehru and his crooked thoughts. only god can change you.
