He reminds me of Jim Morrison in some strange way but he is much much more full of light and brightness! Intelligent and interesting lyrics what a wonderful discovery even if I am a bit late.

absolutely perfect, from the depth of the darkest oceans, to the brilliance of a star filled sky, this song is spectacular, poetry, musically and space entwined, which makes the emotions feel even more so vibrant, very evocative - I love it x

Back in the 80`s they did a version with just acoustic guitar and accordian, on some late night pop show.....which is STILL the best version I`ve heard of this beautiful song. Alas I no longer have my VHS recording from back then and have failed to find it on KZbin......if anyone out there knows of it.......!

Good album but not the best. "Casanova" is better. "A short album about love" is my favourite.

@carpeinfinitum Can i recommend Brett Anderson and of course the sublime Morrissey ? Not such smooth voices but great lyrics and vocal performances.Yes Scott is a god amongst men you are right - awesome !!!!! Also great are The Lilac Time. Stephen Duffy is a genius and much overlooked - great pop songs.

This is my impression of Neil... "Yeah". You can tell he is caught up in a characterization of himself. It is an unfortunate drive of a lot of musicians. Every time he says "yeah" I am reminded of the fact that he is not as inspired a musician as he might be. In other words he is half assed.

TheSkepticon You look like you're caught up with a puffed up idea of your own self importance. No-one cares what you think you ninny.

You got that from a single word?
@youofyesterday3 жыл бұрын
TheSkepticon I'm a huge admirer of his work but I sort of agree with you. He always seems to be in character in some way, but aren't we all, artists or not? I don't mind it, and I enjoy his albums and songs more as storytelling and escapism than anything else. Often ironic, clever, overworked, sometimes silly, but occasionally incredibly beautiful/moving when the irony is not present (e.g. Tonight We Fly and Sunrise). If we're looking for raw, sensitive, soul-baring a la Nick Drake then Neil's music doesn't do that (at least not directly, but its sometimes, perhaps (?!) there once the various layers and filters are peeled away...! Although maybe it isn't...?!). That's part of why I've remained interested in his music for 20 odd years - he's not an open book and there's always something new to discover in revisiting it every few years :-)
