Long before my first boat (with on-board toilets), I learned the hard way about watermakers, and how RV's need them just like boats do! All it took was getting Giardia from an RV site that, unbeknownst to us, had their 'water' connection coming from a contaminated well...too close to a failed septic tank! After that, I found a freshwater watermaker (RO system) that could filter ANYTHING from water and guarantee our water supply. Never another problem since then! Every boat I've owned since, I always installed an RO system, if it didn't already have one. AND, of course, if you RO your water, you don't have to carry water...which saves a TON of space and payload capacity!

I think what a lot of people are missing is the weight savings, between the lithium and two hundred gallons water that's over 2000 lbs, my two cents:-) , also. I like the multitasking, you can take a crap while making fresh water, brilliant!!

Great job explanation the install and I really liked the remote idea. What are you using as a TDS meter? Is it inline or a handheld that you place in a cup of water. BTW...I have my TDS at about 27 with a 5 stage RO system. PEACE OUT!

It's a in line meter that is in the intake and product lines to monitor you can get them on Amazon.

Cost of homemade water fulter you can usally make one for 1/3 the price to 1/2. Most people go bigger so works out half price and easier to fix. Also cheaper membranes as you can use generic not the manufactures proprietary one.

Enjoyed the video. What high pressure pump is this ? I am assuming this is an AC pump ? I understand that You are using just a simple timer for automatic periodic back wash of the membranes ? Cheers

1800 psi pressure washer pump it worked great until someone put a spinnaker on top of it and it burned up. We have a new pump now it a rotary vain was told it will work better we will see.....

Its 110 VAC unit and start up is no issue if you have your pressure valve open all the way.

For me its was around 2 days for a custom install but I have put the kiss systems in if the thru hulls all already there in less than 2 hrs. Joy just need a 110vac and a intake and out flow, brine and tank

Thanks for the great video. You replied in another post, "the kiss kit was $1500". Was that a full desalination kit? And if so, where would one find such a kit? I'm obviously looking for the simplest, lowest priced water maker possible, so any advice would be very helpful. Thanks again.
