The car looks amazing, Yvan I really like your pad washer but the bucket looks like it could benefit with some water weight to keep it from moving, great video guys 👍😁

Wow, finally I get to see DIY's pad washer in real life action. I really hope the price will be very affordable, as exchange rate + import duties + tax on top of the import duties for us Malaysians, is very expensive hehe.

Love DIY so much....let me be that guy: @DIY Detail, What about the 8/5 stack??? is that a thing, benefits or am I overthinking this?
@diydetailofficialАй бұрын
Not a viable option.

@diydetailofficial understood but is a bummer, that would have been a killer coating, super chemical resistance and super gloss

I actually tried the 3 year coating the other day in my shop. Did a black Ford ranger that has finicky paint. My experience with the application of the diy 3 year coating was an absolute nightmare. Smearing was something like i have never experienced. I used 36 mf towels to remove the coating. Like wiping oil off watee.

What was used for prep?
@MastersOFdetailingАй бұрын
@diydetailofficial i tried using diy panel prep but was causing me issues on the soft finicky black paint. So I chose to use carpro eraser.

@diydetailofficial scholl s20 black with orange hdo pad as a 1 step. Did a full wash decon before hand. Keep in mind this car was previously coated about 6 months ago, but the owner came to us to get it re done. Humidity was in the 90s and 40 degrees in Australia on the day. First time using scholl s20, I usually would go with koch chemie.

Seems like the DIY cordless rotary slows down faster when turned off compared to the corded version. Will it be that way for the final production units? Does the benefit of the graphene still diminish after 3 years when stacked on top of the 8 year?
@diydetailofficialАй бұрын
It comes to a stop quickly because of the brushless motor, it’s the nature of the technology. No need to re-apply.

THIS is exactly what’s wrong in this industry. Putting a coating on a coating but it’s not a stack it’s a blending (but we keep calling it stack). The minute anyone suggests it’s a good idea to spend more money on their products by doubling up the coating, it’s time to start running the other way. Why people are so willing to accept this type of “let’s make more money” schemes, I will never understand it and frankly is shameful to this industry.
@TheHouseofRagsАй бұрын
THE BLEND, either way there are multiple tests on KZbin that have shown the stack does indeed out perform both individual coatings by themselves 💯🫡
@Chancy454SSАй бұрын
@@TheHouseofRags Thanks for the lingo but what does that even mean? Multiple tests of your products or some other brand products and it would still be cheaper to buy another bottle in 8 yrs (which I would like to see if it lasts that long) and apply another coating. And what is meant by "outperform". Will last longer than the claimed amount of yrs it's suppose to last or will just help it to last what is suppose to be the amount of yrs it's suppose to last
@LT4_ZachАй бұрын
@@Chancy454SS “thanks for the lingo” it was pretty easy to read sounds like you just want attention
@diydetailofficialАй бұрын
The stack was originally done as a viewer request. We were frequently asked if the 3 year could be put over our 8 year. We returned to the lab and did some testing. If you apply the 5 or 8 year first, then wait 2-8 hours you effectively create another coating. Before the 2 hour mark the base coating isn’t cured enough and the 3 year coating damages the base coating ( 5 or 8 year). After 8 hours the base coating is sufficiently cured that then the 3 year is simply sitting on top of the base coating , which is a waste of time and money.
