Hey bro! I actually emailed you about the same issues I was having! I seriously thought I was losing signal a little too close to what the O3 was rated for. I emailed iFlight as well and got a response but I was eager to fix the problem myself so I also ordered another antenna. However I didn’t order the one you got, I simply just got longer 100mm 5.8ghz antennas because I didn’t want to deal with having to open up the drone and stuff and replacing the part where the antenna holds. And it actually worked! It gave me more range and at a very decent distance. I still don’t know if the one you got, has more range but I’d like to hear what kind of distance you’re getting with it!

sorry mate didn't see the email, mine wasnt much longer at all. its basically the same as the vista although low mbs is way more easy to fly in O3 so you can technically go further if that makes sense

I think the 03 air unit is overrated. I lost my 7 inch build because of video signal loss. My vista and original air units have gone way further without problems. The 03 lost video signal and I went into rescue mode but the video signal never returned so i could regain control to fly it back. ultimately i lost my quad. It was a very sad day. I really not a fan of the 03! Actually I'm still really upset because that was a lot of money invested and lost!

Dude, I bought an iFlight Defender 25 recently on my front lawn and it fail safed twice. I bought the drone for real estate fly through tours. The last thing I need is got done to fail safe while flying through someone’s property! I’m going ELRS from here on out

Hey Andy great video, what fail safe settings do you use? I set my nazgul to angle mode and to throttle up when it looses connection as part of stage 1 before GPS rescue kicks in. If you full lost the connection prior to crashing into the bush this could have saved you here. Just a thought.

i was going to make a video about this, that’s a fair point but at the same time if you are flying in the jungle or anything that can be disastrous 😂 Also i don’t think it fail safed until it was actually in the bush due to the elrs connection

I have the 03 on a 7"Chimera that I built and easily get 1km at 26mbps and the antennae is the standard DJI unit and is pretty much hidden by the battery. I would always advise using standard DJI antennae with DJI units. I also use the DJI Controller 2 on latest firmware as there was a glitch in that if you lots video it would disconnect that has been cured.

The O3 unit switches between 2.4 & 5.8 GHz if used with the Dji RC2. If the antenna (or adapter) isn’t dual band you’re screwed. Just us the original antenna and you’ll be fine ✌🏻

Yes, it needs to be manually set to 5.8ghz and not auto.

What goggles were you using? Because for what I heard the goggles 2 have linear polarized antennas, so I guess the O3 antenna is linear polarized too. But the V2 goggles have circular polarized antennas. So mixing V2 and O3 may have less range(???)

OMG. Bush wacking in AUS??? I know those setups are expensive, but damn, boy! Ended up here because i'm trying to figure out why I've now had my O3 air unit suddenly just shut down (full Mbps reading just prior to it going black) twice, all at EXACTLY the same maneuver on my GepRC Mark5. I do a quick punch, chop throttle and quick half front flip look back and BAM...no video. Control is all still active, but good luck recovering when inverted and lost signal. Eventually get video back after like 2-3 minutes (it is already crashed). So I suspect/hope it is just a BEC supply issue on the FC to O3 and moving supply over directly to battery supply native instead of the FC +12v BEC output will help?

I watched your channel since your first iflight nazgul bnf and it's amazing how you managed to get this far without the proper components, any drone you fly should have had a loud ass buzzer with it's own 1s battery. I can't tell from the video but it seems you still have the stock stubby dji antenna on? iflight is only responsible for the first 6/10 of the drone, to truly get to the next level you need to build or at least mod your own quad.

I've been trying to figure out my range issue, but I'm using the O3 on the ground in an RC car. From what I've seen even without being in full power (but not low power) I should be able to get decent range and penetration. If I leave the vtx powered at 12v with active cooling inside my apartment, then walk out the front door and down the stairs I'm already at around 17mbps tops. Just the floor is too much for it. I can walk farther out and get better signal back but then just a sheer distance of about 75ft has me lose video completely. I spent way less on analog stuff and got way more range. I get the impression that in the air I might get a couple hundred yards tops on a clear day before needing to turn back, and maybe twice that at full power.

I had a similar thing happen to my 03 unit as well. Hand launched as usual and punched to the sky, signal cut immediately and fell in some bush. Nothing between me and the drone, wasn’t to far away. It was super weird, almost like some one jammed the signal

I definitely need to take the time to set up the fail safe and return to home gps feature. Im perplexed to what could have made it happen. I’m a lot more careful on take offs now, haha. Do you have it set to FCC mode? And I recommend manually setting channel rather than auto

Those sand dunes are pretty cool. There is something similar to those in Oregon. Was surprised to find them because I had no idea they existed in some of these locations.
