Last I checked, Sparda has 3x more base damage than Alistor, which basically guarantees you always DT equitant damage (in terms of hit for hit). Granted, this does not detract from the fact you still lose out on moves like Vortex, or HP regeneration, but in terms of steady and consistent output for combos? It's quite a bit more viable than you'd think.

I don't why, but if i have to choose one gauntlets type of devil arms at least through the classic DMC era, it would've been Ifrit due to the "Devil Trigger KICK 13" alone, cuz it so fast, oddly addicting and just so satisfying to use XD

Ifrit has been my favourite fist type weapon for the longest time in dmc, #2 is dante's beowulf in dmc 3 and #3 would probably be balrog in 5, but ifrit is so damn cool in 1 man.

I watched this live. But watched it here again because this deserves my views, not just a streaming watch. Great list, and really shows just how underrated DMC origibal is that more than half of its weapons are S rank.

I've messed around and have done a New Game+ run using Sparda only for my melee weapon (besides the final mission because you don't have it by that point), and honestly it's quite fun! The only downside besides the lack of DT abilities is also the lack of air hike, but besides that, it fucks pretty hard. Definitely agree it's A tier.

Hmm. I'd say move Nightmare to B tier, atleast. It giving the ability to Distort left hooks with Ifrit is a really neat mechanic. It CLEARS a lot of enemies with the nice increased damage. Nice tier list, besides Nightmare's placement.

@@Berlinbower You definitely should. It's a very neat mechanic. Devil Never Cry has made a video demonstrating it.

With Yamato, it has slightly less reach in addition to the faster speed and DT drain. But I'd disagree with it being better than Alastor considering that faster DT drain and slightly shorter range. It's more stylish though so I'd rather use the Sparda costume anyways. Also, E&I having an inhuman max fire rate is a great gameplay story integration detail that I doubt the devs intended. Y'know, with them being designed for Dante specifically because he breaks handguns by shooting them too fast.
