I've constructed a few dodecahexaflexagons in the past, and interestingly, depending on how the twisting is done, it's possible to get a shape where there are indeed 12 faces, but one of them (a face with only one arrangement, rather than the two which allow for branching paths) is only partially accessible.

Flex doesn't necessarily mean a flat shape though, it just means it changes when folded. Flexahedrons are definitely a thing.

last week i was on the bus wondering if it was possible to make a 12 faced hexaflexagon, now youtube recommends me this video. very happy it did, amazing video, will be trying to make one

But is the Dodeca-hexaflexa-hedron really not possible? 3D things that fold might be weird, but I suspect it could work in 4D.

I loved this video, I just wish the bit with the dodecaflexahexagon was slower to be able to appreciate its full beauty!

Hey Ayliean, I liked your video content and the way you passionately talk about maths. To be specific, I was watching your 'Maths Week Scotland 2020 Plenary Talk' video. I was looking for if you mention about Design & Architecture fields anywhere, though you did mentioned about art (aesthetic) & structures. I would love to see you talking about those fields too in few of your future videos. I'm your subscriber. Thanks.

Mine's about 8in/20cm wide since I wanted to make sure there was enough room for the folds. The triangles are big enough that I was able to fit its Feynman Diagram ceremonially on the 12th side. It's one of my proudest creations :)

So how do you actually make it?
@pagesofpaper47929 ай бұрын
There’s actually a proof that shows that it’s possible to make a hexaflexagon with any number of sides greater than 3! Although the starting piece of paper won’t be a straight line unless the number is 3,6,12,24,48 etc. although at a certain point the flexagon starts getting too thick to actually work. Not only that, but there’s also ways to make flexagons that aren’t hexagonal in shape! You can even make flexagons that change shape as you flex them! And regarding the question of if a dodecaflexagon is possible, I know that you can make flexagons with hyperbolic curvature (as I’ve made one myself, where the faces are pentagons instead of triangles), so maybe it is possible to make one with spherical curvature. Flexagons are super cool!

Where I said dodecaflexagon, I meant dodecaflexahedron. I don’t comment much on KZbin, so I don’t know how to edit the comment to fix my mistake.

there are these things i call "shape cubes" there are 2 brands making this right now Shashibo and Cubendi. they are the most fun fidget toy I've spent time with. it starts as a cube and you can fold it out into many shapes one being a dodecahedron. I would call that a flexa-dodecahedron

Pentagonism needs a definition.
@H34L52 жыл бұрын
It would be a system of thought based on the number 5. I think it pretty much already exists in TCM (traditional chinese medicine) with its 5 elements, 5 phases, etc. Humorism also has the 5 humors.

Agonists are substances that bind to synaptic receptors and increase the effect of the neurotransmitter. Antagonists also bind to synaptic receptors but they decrease the effect of the neurotransmitter.
