I’ve become a big fan of the 12.5 lately, I run a nightfoce ATACR 1-8, offset Acro, LA5, and a Surefire short can. the length is absolutely usable for CQB, and it’s repeatable out to 600.

I ran Colt MK18 from 2007 - 2014ish . Then I switched to 12.5 . About 10 months ago I switched to 13.×" . I cannot argue with anyone who says 12.5 is the best . I used my 12.5 in 2Gun Matches . Some of those matches we shot out to 500 yards . 13.×" for me makes the most sense because where I live having SBR does not make enough sense. I live on the border of 3 states and shoot in all e states so I ran my 12.5 in pistol config with TR24 1-4× . Your rig sounds pretty bad ass

Sweet rifles! Dig the set ups, thanks for sharing. I find the 13.7 to be a good middle ground for cqb and medium range applications. I wanted the solgw but out of stock and I couldn't pass up the sale price on a BA Hanson profile 13.7" barrel. Paired that with a STNGR Raptor rail, Aero FDE upper receiver, HM defense bcg, BCM lpk, ALG combat trigger, PSA stealth lower, SBA4 brace, BCM 4x4 ambi ch, fixed UTG rear A2 slim profile sight and fixed Troy HK front sight with an Atibal MCRD II rds, and surefire 3 prong flash hider. I thought about a LPVO, but then I added that to my 20" M16A4 clone to make it more of a SPR. If anything, I might pull the magpul pro buis from my 16" rifle and put them on the 13.7" and get a PA Aurora 5x prism with a mini reflex to piggy back. Too many options lol.

It's funny how it seems counter intuitive to have a 14.5 without an LPVO, but a 13.7 or 13.9 with one, but the 5.56 doesn't lose much in the way less than an inch of barrel. Sweet setups, thanks for sharing

Nice rifles. And good quality video. LPVO=low power variable optic. Check out the Primary Arms PLx 1-8x Compact for your 14.5. It’s approx 1” shorter than every other LPVO and only 16.9oz. BA 13.9" Hanson QPQ is my favorite setup . I run 2 13.9 setups . One with Red dot and one with LPVO . Those BA Hanson Barrels are freaking legit and love the profile of them . I currently have 1-10× on one of my 13.9s . I'm more than likely going to move my 1-10 to my 6ARC and get PLX COMPACT 1-8× GRIFFIN MIL ACSS . Even when I shoot out to 50p yards I usually run it at 6× or 8× . I only use 10x to PID and then i back off . If I could only have 1 rig . I'd be taking LPVO with Offset or Top Hat Red dot .

@ericj6636

 @seanwhite304 The main difference I see isn’t 1x lpvo vs. 1x red dot but the ability to be at, let's say, 10x on your scope and not adjust the scope to react immediately to something. It also helps with scanning a whole area and putting the dot on something, then looking through the scope immediately at max power. That helps you avoid awkward searching for the target on high zoom with a low FOV or searching on low zoom and then adjusting. You've also got the ability to use it for passive night vision if you're at all concerned about "near peer adversaries"

With the AR-15 platform, you DO NOT need to limit yourself to a single upper configuration. You can build 1 complete lower and a minimum of 2 specialized uppers. CQB Upper: 11.5" barrel, free float M-Lok handguard, red dot, flash hider+short suppressor, & flashlight. Range: 0 -240 yards point blank with 55, 62, & 77 gr ammo. Do you really need to worry about the BATF, FBI, CIA, NSA, or military coming to arrest you for having an unregistered shorty in a scenario involving a world in total chaos and going to Hell fast? Or can you use whatever barrel length you want? This scenario involves you surviving a world where every nation has collapsed and fallen under the rule of a single world leader out to exterminate you, a Christian who missed the Rapture. Battlefield Range Upper: 18" barrel, free float M-Lok handguard, 1-8X LPVO or 2.5-10X scope, & flash hider+short suppressor. Range: 200 to 500 yards with 62 and 77 gr ammo. Do you need all that $$$ night vision range finding energy emitting stuff on your handguard? No you don't. You don't want to take the change that those hunting you can see exactly where you are by tracing that energy emission back to your face. You already have to worry about masking your body and rifle's IR signature from drones, etc. But remember what the Good Book says, "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword".

I am one of those people that cannot afford to have multiple firearms(a poor if you will) to cover those differences. so what I would like to build my AR-15 to be that multi purpose platform, but here is the catch. I want to be able to build that non-suppressed multi purpose AR-15, using standard/common use readily available ammunition, preferably shooting 1moa or less reaching from CQB out to a minimum of 500yds or better with the shortest barrel possible without having to deal with an NFA SBR.. nobody seems to have any reliable information to be able to complete that task

I’m losing maybe 200fPS over that of a 16” barrel with 55gr… the energy loss would be negligible if we are talking apples/apples. The shorter barrel would be for those wanting maneuverability since this would be their “do everything” rifle. It’s not ideal for long shots…but that’s not really the intent or my assertion.
