To me, *prime* Ice Cube is THE west coast standard 🎙👑🙌 Everyone talks Pac a lot, but I found him to be mediocre up until he dropped "Me Against The World"...he'd officially arrived, lyrically 🙌 Nevertheless, my point is that Tupac wasn't on Cube's lyrical level before that album. Cube was hella raw straight outta the gate 💯 Kid was pure jet fuel 🔥 He was a brilliant writer who had A LOT to say! To that point, he was much more important than NWA; they were all curse words and theatrical violence...bunch'a nonsense, basically (looking back) 🤷♂️ Cube, on the other hand, covered a *w-i-d-e range* of topics on Amerikkka's Most Wanted, Kill At Will and Death Certificate. That early Cube run was fuckin phenomenal 💯🙌 Let's not forget that he'd dominated the rap space from 1990 right up until BIG came along. Shit was awesome 💣💥 This is back when MC's hella cared about being unique and creative...R.I.P. to that part 💔😞 Correction: Cube dominated the rap space until Dre & Snoop came along. I guess my point here is that the East Coast had lost its foothold on things until B.I.G. shifted our interests back to that region. Before him, groups like Tribe, De La & Brand Nubian were doing their thing 👍🤷♂️ But most of us record-buying folks were more interested in Cube and Death Row 💯 This is also testament to just how potent B.I.G. was, to have been able to steal attention away from these guys. He was a MASSIVE talent 🙌 But I digress 🤷♂️
@guesswho217 Жыл бұрын
You got it right. When Amerikkka's Most Wanted first came out, I remember being hesitant to buy it because I was thinking Cube wouldn't be much without NWA. A month later when I finally bought the tape, I couldn't take it out of my stereo. His content was so much deeper than what he did with NWA, even though I loved everything he did with them. Going solo was his best move at the time. I remember at one time I could recite every lyric on Amerikkka's Most Wanted. I eventually wore that tape out and had to buy a new one.
