The noise the WOTAN computer makes when its doing the mind control on the Doctor is one of the most creepiest sounds I've heard on the show!

It's good that the the Doctor not being human was able to resist the mind-controlling spell of the super computer WOTAN and fight against that crazy machine.

The bad thing is that there's also a lot of ppl who can't acceot the fact that things change over time and whine about how they don't like the modern seasons.

@@leobe2104 The complaints are from those that see the core of the show being turned on it's end upside down to appease the "All inclusive" bunch. They had a winning formula and decided to start twisting it into a bastardization of the original material.

Too bad that Dodo will never know that the Doctor isn't human. That's why he didn't get hypnotized by WOTAN over the phone.

*Not one of his best stories but William Hartnell absolutely blows the roof off in this whole sequence!* THE DOCTOR: "It was as if something enormous and terrific was trying to absorb me! Ridiculous, isn't it child? I was just like an electric shock!" DODO: "So, you received no instruction..." THE DOCTOR: "From *whom*, my dear?" [later] THE DOCTOR: "Stay where you are, my dear! There's a new and deadly danger facing us... Yes, and it's coming from Prof. Brett's office!" POLLY: "From MY office! I don't understand." THE DOCTOR: "None of us do... Yet."

+themirrorsofmymind Yeah, I have to admit I purchased the DVD because of this scene alone. The story itself is sort of rubbish, but the way Mr. Hartnell transitions from a doddering old man to being completely in command of the situation is one of my all-time favorite First Doctor moments.

That is THE unsatisfying companion departure of the series. Most companions get better send-offs: they jump ship because the TARDIS is at the correct time/place; find a place where they are useful; die, or find another way home. They don't walk out of a scene and are never heard from again except for a note. They could have had Dodo just miss the TARDIS leaving. It would have been better. Not dramatic, but better.

Oh, you can bet that a later incarnation of the Doctor managed to fix up all that. Take advantage of the Dalek's activities around Coal Hill School to drop a letter into a file folder, followed by a later one calling in some favors. Suddenly, Susan Foreman and her grandfather are in another country, and the teachers were briefly incommunicado because Official Secrets Act. And nobody can really gainsay it because they were distracted by the post-Dalek cleanup.
