Also doesn't apply to this episode, because he doesn't "manipulate" the cyberqueen into killing herself, he turns off her only safeguard. What you're looking for, is how the Doctor made the evil asteroid thing bring back the Tardis matrix in "The Doctor's wife." He manipulated him into bring the Tardis matrix exactly where it needed to be.

The last few episodes of Tennant's run were permeated with so much sadness. He'd lost so much. Rose (twice), Donna (worse than lost...forced to forget him or die), and before Donna even Martha had walked away from him. I loved Ten so much but by the end he had so much pain, yet at the end he still couldn't bear to leave this world.
