The Doctor Who Bank Note with David Tennant on it | Curator's Corner S6 Ep3

The British Museum

Күн бұрын

In the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas special 'The Runaway Bride' a LOT of money was needed to billow out of a cash machine. Normally, an art department would just knock up a relatively simple set of one-sided prop notes and be done with it... not the case with the Doctor Who art department.
In the 2020 Curator's Corner Christmas special 'The David Tenner: a Doctor Who Bank Note' a curator was needed to talk about a Christmas object. Normally, an in-house museum production team would just sit a curator down, and get them to talk about a Christmas object... not the case with the British Museum production team (or curator Henry Flynn for that matter).

Glad you liked it. Very much a labour of love. Also Henry is surprisingly good at being 14 different people with distinct acting styles. If he wasn't so good at curating, I'd say he was wasting his talents.

@@britishmuseum There's the huge fact that the PC obsessed BBC has vast amounts of money to squander like this, since it comes from the tax payer in the form of a license fee, just on the fact that Britain levies a tax on owning TV's. Doctor Who is a disgusting example of social programming gone into overdrive. It's a benchmark of so much of what's gone so catastrophically wrong in Britain. As for the British Museum lending its aura to this example of a children's show, this show's how banality and irreverence has taken hold of British institutions.

Well done! When I visit the museum again this exhibit will be on my list, along with more serious exhibits. Including modern cultural topics is important in order expose younger generations to what any museum has to offer. I have always enjoyed museum visits from childhood visits when I was in school to present day. Thank you for your time and talent to present this bit of modern television history.

Even the credits were needlessly fun here - I mean, I can't tell whether I liked Henry Flynn best or _Henry Flynn_ better. It was always a toss-up between those two for me, lol (^-^) You didn't have to do any of this stuff, but this was such a joy of a video because you did all this work just to talk about a nice little prop. Just like they spent the time to put in some extra care & attention, it's very cool to see the Museum staffers put the extra time and care into this video.

Also Phil Collinson very much deserves his own video (particularly given he's note ISN'T on display) - so there will be a Curator's Corner+ (so mini-episode) just on this in a few days.
